I'd call both this and the enjoy by's flavor piney rather than oniony. That said they do have a similar taste but the enjoy by didn't have the bit of citrus that the 2.0 has.

I've gotten the "oniony" taste from Hop Stoopid before. I love most of what Lagunitas puts out but not a fan of Hop Stoopid.

A friend of mine says he gets an oniony taste from Sculpin. We both live in AZ and get both of these beers fresh. I suppose it could be a shipping/refrigeration issue?

Heavily Summit-hopped beers, Green Flash Imperial IPA for example.

Victory Hop Ranch, though it was more vinegar than onion to me, a lot of people got that flavor. Might be tough to find at this point.

Goes to show how different our palates can be, Enjoy By smells and tastes like fruit juice to me. Dank, tropical/pineapple-y grapefruit juice.

Couldn't find any 6 packs here in Raleigh, but I was able to get a bomber for 6.99. I'm pretty excited for it, and the store only had 2 left after me :O

Found a bomber of Ruination (brewed 2 mo ago so close enough?) and plan a 2.0 side by side tomorrow hopefully. 6 packs of 2.0 appear to be gone around me but got a few singles.

Six packs have hit NJ. I paid $12.99 which is a steal for a DIPA of this quality in a 6 pack format. Enjoy by date is 7/4/15. Does anyone know when this was bottled? Not sure how far out Stone goes with their dates but i am hoping it's only 3 months.

I worked a Beer Festival here in Charlotte last weekend and had the pleasure of pouring for Stone. They had (supposedly) the last keg of Ruination in the state there for it. Needless to say I sampled like a madman. Looking forward to the 2.0

18.99/6er in upstate NY. Enjoy by 4.20 was only 17.99 at the same store. I picked one up to try but at 3$/bottle it is the exact same price as the 1.0 4pks.

Yeah, i realized that when i picked up a ruination today and felt pretty dumb about that comment. I'm probably wrong but i swore it was in the high 7s before. My fault.

Wow, I'd try a different store if you can. They're up-charging that big time.

It's only been about year since they upped the ABV from 7.7 to 8.2.

While its true that this particular store is not the cheapest option it is the only place around me that will break down any 6pk into singles so it is my goto for purchasing new or interesting beers that I haven't tried yet. More then that though Stone is very expensive where I live...I even snapped these two picks at Wegmen's a few days ago...Never have I ever seen a 12pk that was more expensive then the same 6pk!?!?!

Totally get paying a bit more for a single to try. I do that all the time also. Better to spend $3 on something you don't like then $12-15 for six things you don't like. 19 for the six pack is still really steep. The place around me that up-charges had it at 15 while everyone else was 12.

The 6 vs 12 pack thing had to be a mistake. I would have asked about it just out of curiosity. Either way it was good for a laugh on my end.

I like it, its been too long for me to compare to the old ruination, and I think when I had ruination it use to not be fresh. it has that same intense bitterness

None of those qualities. Mainly citrus and tropical hop aspects.

It was alright. Maybe that was due to the fact that I bought it sitting on a warm shelf at total wine; I hate that place for that exact reason . You're a multi million dollar corporation who doesn't spend the money to refrigerate the beer you sell? Yet the locally owned grocery store manages to come up with the money to refrigerate their beer??

I don't know why the breweries allow such stores to sell their product.

Only place that had it around here though.... I miss my Chicagoland distribution; nor cal distribution is awful , to say the least .

I was hoping for tropical/citrus bomb and got a pine bomb. Maybe Ruination 3.0 will give us that in 10 years.

had a bomber today. REALLY liked it. I thought ruination 1 was good, but wasn't a huge fan. This one I'll probably be getting regularly if it's available. totally reminded me of a toned down enjoy by, and I love enjoy by
