Don't know why they don't devote a season to the V Lager. With all the hopped up stuff it would make sense.

I didn't want to start a thread about it so I'll just bump this one. Do most people really prefer Nooner over Summerfest? I just don't see (taste) it. Are most people just following the overall rating for there own? Nooner being new so it will automatically start a lil high and even out over time? Admittedly, I haven't had them side-by-side yet but I was disappointed with Nooner whereas Summerfest is one of my favorite mid-year releases and look forward to it every year.

    Perhaps, I'll do a side-by-side this week.

I just started seeing summerfest and will do a side by side soon as well idr what summer fest was like.

Had them side by side and Nooner is a tad drier but finish is similar. Very very fresh and crisp. Buying more of the nooner due to cans over bottles. Bill, we have the pilsners covered how about a solid lager like Vienna as a standalone not hidden in a variety pak?

But Summerfest IS in cans! Personally I love and purchase both.

You must be in North ATL, where I am just bottles of SF can be found. Still great though.

No Summerfest in cans (bottles and draught only)... Discontinued this year and replaced by Nooner in the can.

Nooner is the hoppier of the two, people love hops. It's a nice way for people to get their hop fix, but with a cleaner profile and lower abv. I'm not suprised it's rated higher and preferred.

I think Summerfest is the better of the two, but I enjoyed both, and feel there's room for an "American" Pilsner and a "Traditional" pilsner in their line-up. And they're one of the few breweries that can skillfully pull off both.

I would definitely agree with you that Summerfest is the better of the two. As for Nooner's ratings, I think they're likely low due to it's being a pils/lager/fizzy-yellow-beer/etc.

Nooner is hoppy (by pils standards), sure, but not as hoppy as things like Pivo or Prima, so I'm not quite sure it's entirely an "American" pilsener in the same vein as those two. It seems to me to sort of bridge the gap between continental pils and American pils.
