It's a fun little curse to drink around, I'll give it that. Thanks for the warning on the Oktoberfest!

With any luck, the Kellerweis is ester-forward enough for me. Since I'm a hat-wearing banana ester head.

You should definitely give Kellerweis a shot.

My perfect Sierra Nevada seasonal line-up would be as follows...

Q1 - Kellerweis (I'd actually prefer Summerfest here, but it's called SUMMERfest so....)

    Q2 - Summerfest

    Q3 - Vienna Lager

    Q4 - Celebration Ale

This thread piqued my curiosity and has continued to since Kellerweis is my favorite wheat.

Today in the market I noticed Kellerweis w/ a new label and my gut said "they wouldn't trot out a new label if it's set to be discontinued."

The accuracy of that theory is questionable but, like I said, was my gut feeling.

I think SN is redoing all their labels, and the beer is in the summer samplers. Honestly, I partially think that this whole "SN is going to discontinue Kellerweis" thing might become a self-fulfilling prophecy- there's probably tons of BAs on here to shrug it off as "it's just going to get discontinued anyways, so why even try it".

Even if that does happen, at least it's in the summer sampler (which might, honestly, be the perfect place for it if it does end up getting shelved).

That thought occurred too. I sure hope it sticks around in 6 packs. All the other wheats I've tried with comparable price and availability are remarkably underwhelming. Ergo, I'm not a wheat fan but I love me some Kellerweis.

I happen to have really enjoyed it, but it isn't a style I go to often.

As a hop-averse ester-head, this one was pretty far to the floral side of things for me, as that was virtually all I could taste in it (which pretty much sealed the whole "don't bother trying any more SN beers" thing for me, since I've only ever liked Tumbler and Narwhal from them).

I can see where those who want more of a hop kick to a traditional hefe might like it, though.

I would be seriously disappointed if this beer were discontinued. Easily one of the best hefes on the American market. Love it.

Kellerweis is honestly an underwhelming hefeweizen to me. That said, it's certainly not a bad one and I wouldn't want it to go OOP.

I've never actually seen a six-pack of Kellerweis around here (Pale Ale, Torpedo, Nooner, and the seasonals -- Hoppy Lager this spring, Summerfest currently, Celebration in winter, and I believe I remember seeing Flipside Red IPA around in the fall way back when I first started drinking beer? -- are readily available, but not the other year-round beers... I've never seen their Stout anywhere, and wouldn't have known Sierra Nevada made a Porter if it wasn't in the winter variety packs), but I've liked the two bottles out of three from the Summer Pack that I've had so far.

Was meaning to do a review when I had my second bottle earlier today, but completely blanked on the "pour 2/3, then swirl the rest to stir up the yeasty-goop and pour that" pouring method and didn't realize it until I no longer had any beer left in the bottom to swirl -- so that'll have to wait until the third bottle. I suppose the fact that I was in such a hurry to pour and drink it says good things about the bottle's contents. XD

I hope they at least keep it around in the summer packs, even if they do stop making year-round six-packs.

It's not very good...did at least three blind tasters in the last few months with this included and fresh and it was always near the bottom. Do it right or discontinue is my motto.

If it goes seasonal, I could live with that for business purposes and also the way our current craft consumers tend to ignore year round beers these days in fear of accidentally grabbing old stale stock. Please just don't retire it.

It doesn't surprise me I don't notice this beer on the shelves. This needs to be moved to a seasonal. I have never craved a hefeweizen in the winter.

Please don't get me going on SN again, I've demonstrated the ability to deplete an entire region... and stuff it into my beer cellar.

If the lager beer is all the excitement you'll ever need then the wheat beer is positively scandalous! I love it. I think the americans have edged out a style for themselves called the pale wheat ale and I have to admit I like it. I think the leaning is toward citrusy esters rather than banana and less phenolics. SN's Kellerwiess is hoppier than some, lighter on the banana than some. From what I have seen as far as the BMC brewers tinkering with the hefe and the witbier it's to make it more bland, less banana, practically no clove and thick. So I like kellerweiss and it lasted not 3 days at my house.

I hope they don't discontinue it. It's a go to wheat for me and one of the beers that really got me into hefeweizens. It's one of the few beers I'll buy year round as a 6er. Hopefully it sticks around. One of the good American Hefeweizans.

I love SN Kellerweis. I don't buy it often, but this makes me want to show my support. I do feel, however, that if SN made this into a summer seasonal to present alongside their Summerfest lager, it would make a bit more sense; given that most BAs reach for hefeweizens in the warmer months. Just my two cents.
