My thoughts will echo a lot of others here. Great day, shitty weather. I arrived around 9 and met up with the others in the group, already in the north line. We moved pretty quickly into the first queue of the day and waiting the opening. Folks were sharing in line, but it seemed like not as freely as in years past. Thinking people didn't want to be monkeying around with their packs in the rain/puddles. Still we had some nice beers, including a couple from breweries I hadn't heard of before, which is always a treat.

Once inside, we hit the head, grabbed a 2011 Derk Lerd and headed to the A line. I think we got in line around 10:20 and were 100-200 back. Once 10:30 struck, the line started moving quickly. We were in and out by 10:40 or so. All 4 in my group struck out on the golden ticket.

Luckily a couple of GA folks in our group were able to grab a table and find some dry-ish ground in the south tent, where we proceeded to #whalezbro like no one's business. We kept an eye on our beers and really didn't encounter anything more than people looking for pours.

Outside of a couple of loud folks, I didn't see too much stupidity (other than some really poor footwear choices). I did some folks going old-school and tying garbage bags around their shoes. My mom would've been proud.

So did they never get around to tapping the DFH BBA Palo Santo? I checked the guest taps a few times and it was Namaste and something else that I don't remember on all day. Never saw the Palo :slight_frown:

They put it out fairly early, right when it was raining the hardest. I got that and Hill Farmstead Edward at the same time. Not sure what time it was but confident it was before 1pm.

Anyone else have their cars "Molested" by a mud monster? Got back to my car and it looked like someone just wiped their filthy hands and body all over my car.. and may or may not have pissed in my gas tank? (Cap was on, but the door was open and there was plenty of mud on and around it.)

Other then the (almost) knife fight in line for Group B.. it was kinda amusing..

Curious if they allotted variants for each group as rumored previously. I was probably in the first half of Group A and my VBDL was numbered 977/1107. Did anyone get a VBDL after group A?

First DLD was a ridiculously good time. Been reading this thread way too much, but helped with my prep. That being said I was still under dressed and ended up soaked and frozen eventually. Having no prior experience with the guest taps, I was thrilled at what I drank DL '15 and BA DL '15 and DL Biggle, plus HF and BBPT5 and on and on. That's not even talking about the beers shared at the Hampton Inn on Friday night or in line on Saturday. Special thanks to the guy that sold me his YES ticket. I'm still confused how that happened, but one day I'll enjoy my VBDL.

We were in C very early with B's and some A's still in line. Cherry and Vanilla were gone. Our group had 3 winners and we all got Coffee and the numbers ranged from 100s to high 400s so I don't believe they went out in sequence. I'm wondering what variants were left in D and E.

They did not. I won in Group C and they were out of Vanilla and Cherry (the guy said vanilla ran out during group B implying they alloted it all at the beginning). I grabbed a 2 year brandy version, and I'm not disappointed at all. Managed to grab a taste of it at the festival and it was phenomenal. I preferred it over bourbon barrel, regular brandy, and thought it was on par with vanilla bean. The 2nd year in the barrel really upped the woody/caramelly/vanilla flavors and smoothed out the sweetness. Anyone else given this variant a try yet?

My car had a nice mud splatter on one side as well. Mine was also scratched up on the hood pretty good as well (looks like someone keyed it). Hope the mud was all that happened to yours.

Two drunks RIGHT in front of me in line. Guy drops a 4pk of something.. couldn't tell what it was.. Guy he was JUST talking with picked up two of the bottles and put them in his bag.. Other guy starts yelling that he stole them.. Guy who stole them pulls knife.. Guy who dropped the bottles starts yelling "Hey, he pulled a knife on me!!" Guy drops the knife and acts like its NBD.. he's just chilling. Enter another SUPER DRUNK dude who tries to cool shit down.. (and ultimately steals some of the knife guys glassware (yeah, i saw that).. Random girl tries to return knife.. guy refuses..says its not his.. (Clearly it was) Knife guy gets fed up with getting called out for pulling knife and charges dude.. right.. into.. MUD! It was a pretty poor fight in terms of blows to the head.. But it made for some entertainment standing in line for 2hrs. Security arrived pretty quick.. and i moved up 3 spots in line.

Same! I heard stories of an almost-scuffle in the Group D with some kid who line jumped 10-20 people claiming he needed to catch up with his dad, and was threatening to fight everyone who gave him crap about it, but that's all I have for DLD drama. We need details!

hahahahahah. what in the world. that's amazing

I was in Group C and didn't get my allotment until around 4pm, and got a Vanilla variant fwiw....

After I took mine I did hear the girl yell back that they only had a couple left.

My bottle is around #667 or something.

Big thanks to everyone who helped out the noobs like myself by answering questions and posting the survival guide. Especially given the weather, it would have been one fairly befuddling mess otherwise.
