Yep, 1/2 way between Reubens and Stoup.

Speaking of Stoup they have quite the beer garden now, definitely worth checking out!

Me too. I pity the poor brewery dog that's gonna get blamed for every bad batch.

More like Stoup and Populuxe, but its all the same in the dark.

Wish them the best, but it seems like just more over-saturation. In the absence of bringing something new to the table (ie: holy mountain), it's hard to really be that interested

Pretty much. I've got my trifecta of Fremont, Reubens and Holy Mountain and I rarely ever go anywhere else. Stoup from time to time.

I'm the opposite, I still don't see how having more fresh, local beer available is a bad thing. As great as they may be, I would get bored as hell if I only had three options available to me.

over-saturation is an interesting topic for both Seattle and PDX. the forum seems to jump to the conclusion that we've reached it (or are fast approaching it), and then somebody like Sixpoint starts distributing, Fathead's opens a brewpub (seriously, that still baffles me), and ballard adds it's 10th brewery. i'll be honest, i'm not much different than @distantmantra ... i've got Holy Mountain, Fremont, and Reubens, and occasional stops (read: 1-3 times/year) into Georgetown, Stoup, Standard, and Two Beers. been meaning to get over to Machine House for months now and still haven't made it. there's pretty much no room for me to add another regular stop.

that said, i know the back story a little bit with Lucky Envelope and very much look forward to tasting their beers, and i think you guys should too. there's something really neat going on in Ballard where breweries support and wish success upon each other, and try to add to the market rather than take shares away from their neighbors. because beer matters, or something.

I don't think Seattle is over saturated, I just think Ballard is. And now Red Hook is looking to open a brewpub in the same area as well. Pick another part of the city, people. It is nice seeing stuff open up in Columbia City and South Park, though. And there is Ol Faithful Brewing coming to Ravenna this summer.

Outside of my normal rotation of HM/Fremont/Reubens, in the last six months or so I've been to Standard once, Stoup twice, Georgetown twice, Hales once, Big Al's once, Elliot Bay once, Big Time three or four times... and I think that's it. That's just my fault.

Maybe more options will mean Fremont, Holy Mountain etc will be less packed? I know it's all about when you go. . .

Maple Leaf is available. Tear down that scary looking Chinese place on LCW (Ying's Drive-in) and put in a brewery that specializes in affordable sours and year-round fresh hop pales.

I guess to clarify, perhaps 'over-saturation' isn't the best technical term. It's pretty clear to me that if you open a brewery in Ballard, it will do (seemingly) do well, so there's a bit of incentive. My point was that most of these breweries are just quite frankly not worth going to. So I'd echo distantmantra, in that Holy/Fremont/Reubens/Stoup is basically the rotation.

I'm all for opening 100 breweries in Ballard, but would prefer they make quality, or at least interesting beer.

Prefirst, I agree with almost everyone, so pardon the piling on.

First, we are rich. Second, not all wealth is equal. Quality is my definition over quantity. I'll take one brewery with good beer over 50 with average beer. It's personal, but it's my beer in my hand, so, yeah, it's personal.

We pour HM because we want to drink it. Same with Reuben's and Chuckanut and Georgetown. Machine House, too. Used to be the same with Elysian.

I'm excited for Cloudburst...we all need more GOOD beer, not more breweries making beer.

And give me more Half Acre and I'll be happy....we will be pouring some more of our friends from Chicago beers soon to a select few and you should really try to grab some...amazing stuff.

I didn't do HHC, so none of the Chicago goodness for me. :slight_frown:

    dang, is it HHC only?

can we get another round HHC? i'm interested and i feel dumb that i passed on it (and, tbh, kind of scoffed at it) in the first place.
