That was both the funniest and the saddest thing I've ever seen.

I did not. However, I did see someone who had fashioned a Ziploc bag into a pretzel necklace protector.

Spydercos are nice knives, though I certainly don't feel bad for the douche who pulled and subsequently lost it

I encountered Hopman, and immediately felt safer....His presence was comforting!

haha, this was the year I finally won and can truly appreciate how difficult it is to get these damn variants. i've been to releases all over the country and DLD is still the only one where I have to move mountains to even get into the event. Thanks @bjhorvat for getting me in 2 of the last three years because the CA interwebs don't like the DLD ticket website.

Anyone know the bottle count on the Coffee Dark Lord? Had it on tap and thought it was excellent.

Who cares if it's not illegal. A lot of things are not illegal. I think the guy is basing it on what would a true beer afficionato do. I wouldn't sell my BA DL for 200 bucks. Some people would. I would say those people
    Aren't true BAs.

    My 2 cents.

It was my first DLD, lined up nicely with a trip I had planned and I landed group D tickets. We got there around 2:30. As a native Angeleno, the first hour or so was miserable lol. Once I had a couple beers and went from line to line trying amazing stuff, it got much better. Ended up in the D line with some really nice people and enjoyed great friendly pours. Tons of people that were the friendliest drunks ever, almost everyone was apologetic and cool if they bumped into you or stepped on your toes or anything that could be deemed disrespectful. Sometimes even offered a pour as a mea culpa.

The 1% we saw was mostly peripheral. My gf went to the bathroom as we were waiting to get into the never ending zig zag and saw some drunk dude fall out of a portajohn into the muck with his jewels out and all. That and so much other people watching definitely outweighed most of the negativity.

It was an experience I'll never forget, and I really would love to do it again. Just hope I can afford it... lol

Does anyone know what kind of barrels were used for the muerte or cherry?

    I'd say that's completely backwards:

If you can purchase something, anything, for $50 and within 2 minutes of said purchase flip the item for 4 times that amount it's irresponsible NOT to sell it.
Be that item a house, car, jewelry, beer, vibrator, sandwich, fedora... anything.

You'd be smart to go to Dark Lord Day if you can't afford it simply TO flip beers. I'm speaking purely financially here bear in mind; forget morals or "beer karma" or whichever self-imposed term you choose.

friends of my wife bought their 16 year old a car for his birthday. a real beater. think she said it was 800 bucks or something.

he flipped it to a friend for 1200. they flipped their wigs about it. he used his 1200 to buy a different car. which he then re-sold for 2000. they threatened to kick him out for being so flippant with their gift.

he took his 2000, bought a car and flipped THAT for 3000.

he now has a 3000 dollar car that his parents paid 800 for and they are pissed off at him.

some people are just.... not smart

I admittedly know almost nothing about the law, but I think this is pretty common (I'm relatively sure we have the same law here in Illinois).

It's illegal to sell alcohol without a license, is it not?
