Have you done a side by side comparison of the two?

KFC buckets are expensive 15$ maybe more haven't gotten one in years. Giant on the other hand sells Fried Chicken for about 6-7$ for a large bag and it's very good, extra crispy.

Thanks, good to know. I've got a Giant less than a mile from my house. If I ever start eating meat again, I know where I'm going.

So someone who does not eat meat was complaining about the pricing being more than KFC? Go on....

Oh my bad, but still, $5/pc is a lot too for what it is, but you're right $13/person isn't all that bad.

I think what is more striking than anything is that a pricey place is doing a downmarket item, it serves to highlight how costly the food is; despite how inaccurate the comparison is, the KFC parallel is much easier to make than comparing their panini to somewhere else.

I wasn't "complaining". I was pointing out that there may be cheaper options of comparable quality. If you've had both and can say that Tired Hands' chicken is worth nearly twice the price of KFC chicken or four times the price of Giant chicken, then please do.

Have you compared the fried chicken at Tired Hands to that at KFC or Giant, and is it worth the extra cost?

I'd pay 200% markup on food if I am comparing the excellent atmosphere and taplist at tiredhands to sitting in my car in the Giant parking lot. Why are we even talking about this?

That is what I was thinking too. My first thought was if a salad bar and soft serve came with it for that price.

So are you saying you live in your car? Assuming that's not the case, are you are unable to produce an excellent atmosphere in your own home? A crowded bar filled with fat beer geeks is really worth the 200% markup?

You could get a growler of HopHands and take it and the Giant chicken home and enjoy them in the comfort of your own living room. You could even put condiments on your Giant chicken, if condiments are your thing.

Everything at Tired hands is overpriced. Get used to it. There is no competition for a place like TH in what is the 5th largest city in the Country.

I for one liked the new place and I'm glad there is some real food options. I have heard nothing but good things about the Fried Chicken and I want some. That is all.

Can one make a table reservation and then just order beer, or does a table reservation require you to but the overpriced food too?

And what do you mean there is no competition? Plenty of other good beer venues in Philly. My wife even prefers Earth, Bread+Brewery over Tired Hands.

These two are the most important points, for sure.

<A crowded bar filled with fat beer geeks is really worth the 200% markup?>

Was only there on Sunday so far. Most of the people around me were in decent shape and fairly polite. Now my eyesight isn't that good, but even I would have noticed if the place was filled with fat people.

However, there were two asshole beer geeks at the cafe'. One of them might have been a bit overweight.

The original Tired Hands location had a few kinks to work out when it opened, too. They solved many of those by offering half portions of the meat and cheeses, expanding the food menu a bit, and only stocking enough candied bacon for two plates per day (I keeeeeed). But I really think between now and a few months from now, the things that aren't working for people about the Fermentaria's menu are going to be smoothed over. I can totally see a half portion of the fried chicken plate being offered and no one complaining about a biscuit, two pieces of chicken, and half the slaw for $13.
