ALL states. You can't legally pay somebody to murder your enemies, either. Just a FYI.

    retail, yes

lots of things are "illegal" but only get you in trouble if you are a complete idiot about it.

    * exists. other "collectible" sites exist. no one seems to give a fuck.

better hurry up and report all those felons.

eta: better shut down these trade forums also. lots of people swapping beer of unequal value that could be construed as buying/selling.

etaa: fuck it, i just reported the entire forum to the ATF

etaaa: RUN FOR YOUR LIVES, FELONS

Oh, so now you're saying it's stupid to not murder people. Great

I would guess there are also laws in every state prohibiting public intoxication. They also are generally ignored. The problem is that is not a legal defense once you are actually charged.

I am not aware of any state in the union where one does not have to be licensed to sell alcoholic beverages. I'll leave it to you to conduct a 50-state survey, if you're so inclined.

So by your logic if I see someone's DL just sitting there it is financially irresponsible of me not to take it and sell it since I'd be making pure profit off of it? Since both things are technically legal but the end justifies the means right?

Mighty long fall off that high horse my man. Who are you to judge what anyone does with any of their beer? Stop being a salty walt because you didnt get a YES.

Your "retail" distinction is meaningless, legally.

    * exists and basically is a venue for illegal activity. It relies on the fiction that it's just the bottle being sold, but not its contents. You may note that Ebay recently cracked down on illegal sales of beer. We'll see whether * survives.

Just because you want it to be something else, doesn't mean it is. And I'm not saying that the mere fact is illegal is enough to also say it is wrong, but it's worth noting. If you want to be flip about it, that's your prerogative.

Weird....this looks like my kitchen, black quartz countertop, same green tile backsplash, white appliances, silver toaster. I mean, shit, i had to really look at this picture to make sure it wasn't my other half posting...

Your example starts with theft so I would say no. Also this is all technically ILLegal.
But my example starts with a legal transaction of purchasing the beer, then illegally selling it for personal financial gain.

So my example is 50% illegal while yours is 100%, hahaha. You get my point earlier about morals and such. I'm just pointing out that, financially, selling a Barrel Aged Dark Lord for $51 or more is a sound financial decision.

I think everyone is straying off of the whole DLD thread for info, personal experience, frustration, etc... and into something somewhat unrelated and not really constructive.

    • Selling liquor without a license is illegal, yes.
    • So is shipping beer across state lines...which is something just about everyone here has done/ will do.

Let's steer ourselves away from what is/ isn't "legal" and back on to more constructive things...like how terrible 3 Floyds is for not donating enough souls to the Dark Lord so that the rain & cold could have stayed away on Sat.

Because some beer is worth $200+ to you doesn't mean it is worth the same to someone else. If people trade their bottles for other beer will you be equally offended? You didn't get a variant; you are sad. Stop getting aggro about what people do with their beer. Its none of your business.

I'm not aware of the bolded part being true. Not saying it isn't - but I'd be interested to know why you believe that.

And yes, I'm sorry to be part of hijacking a thread that should be more focused on how DLD was a blast - it was, despite the miserable weather.

The bolded part is, in fact, true.. at least, sort of. Depending on the State anyway. Each state has their own laws regarding transportation of alcohol in/out of their state.

It is, for now anyway, flat out illegal to ship beer through USPS, regardless of where it's coming from or where it's going. The Postal Service cannot be used for transfer of beer.

UPS and FedEx will allow you to do so, however, you're technically supposed to be licensed to ship the product because someone (and that is you if you're licensed) has to be accountable for where that beer is being delivered. This is why you'll see a lot of stores that might ship beer within their state, but won't ship out of state. It completely depends on where the beer is coming from and where it's going.

too late to edit; but meant illegal to ship without a license.

Regardless, my point was not to focus on the legalities here, but to stop harping on what's legal /what's not when it comes to this. I'm sure there's probably a thread on here somewhere where we can all go to banter about the legalities of the beer selling/ trading and morals of thosse individucals who do.

TL/DR: people are going to do what they want; let them. Just let it go so you can be content with the beer you have to drink/ share.

    Cheers
