Like this. Speaking of which, I'm originally from St. Louis. You want a Mad Max, post-apocalyptic urban hellscape? Take a trip across the Mississippi and get a load of East St. Louis. Makes Aberdeen look like Mercer Island.

I've got a family cabin out in North Cove (20 miles outside Westpoirt), so I've been going through Aberdeen since the mid-80s. I know there are other factors like the logging industry and a terrible local economy, but the Wal-mart did a damn fine job of killing businesses in Aberdeen.

I absolutely agree with what Wal-Mart can do to a community. I failed to reference that part of the conversation.

I used to go to STL often before I retired. Loved it. Took in a Cards game whenever I could. Never saw anything like it. Not only do they have the best baseball fans in the country, they go through the beer like nothing I've ever seen. A vendor will go down the aisle and not make it back up without selling out - every time - during the whole game! Most incredible thing I've ever seen.

St. Louis is a GREAT baseball and beer town. I'm still a die-hard Cards fan, even after 20 years away it's in my DNA. When I left, the craft beer scene left a lot to be desired, but I understand it's vastly improved since then.

I'm from Upstate NY, but the Wizard turned me into a Cards fan. We should have a get-together for Cards/beer fans!

All the talk doesn't amount to anything if we don't get it done. Let's do it

GO REDS!!! I'm still feeling good about this weekend's sweep of the Cards. And to keep this beer-related, Great American Ball Park now serves Founders Centennial IPA.

OK. I'll grant you that's a plus. On the other hand, I'll bet they still sell Hudy Delight there as well.

1990 was a long time ago. I was a Reds fan growing up, Johnny Bench was my guy, and those Big Red Machine teams were awesome. That '76 team might be the best team ever. But Marge Schott put me off the Reds and, I loved Ozzie, so the switch was easy. My hometown Rochester Red Wings, where you can get plenty of Genesee at the games, used to the Cards top farm team way back in the olden times.

Are the Red Wings now an Orioles farm team? My best friend back in college was from Rochester (and weirdly was a huge Reds fan) and I recall him talking about the Red Wings as an Orioles team. Plus, am I the only former Genesee drinker (and I mean big time in college) who finds their distribution to WA totally bizarre?

They were the O's farm team for years (my first game ever, Earl Weaver was managing the Wings, got into a big argument with the Ump, got tossed, kicked dirt all over the place.... Ahhh, baseball), but a few years ago the O's wanted their AAA team closer to Bawlmer, so now the Wings are the AAA team fr the Twins.

Yeah, I was in the Grocery Outlet last week and they had the "Heritage Pack", 4 each of Genny, Cream Ale and 12 Horse, made me go HMMM. Then I was in my local bottle shop a few days later and picked up a 24oz can of Dundees Honey Lager and a 4 other Dundee "craft" brews for about $1.30 each. What the hell, I got to tick them at least. Went into a local dive with some friends for crappy karaoke (is there any other kind?) a couple months ago, and they had Genny on tap. I figured, WTF, and got a pitcher just for nostalgias sake. So yeah, it's a bit weird to me to see Genny showing up out here
