Dark Lord Day (DLD) 2015

This seems to be a trend. I also have a Coffee variant, and some of the letters on there are rubbed of as well. I have a "C" and an "E" at the end. But the 188 out of 576 is pretty clear.

 

My wife scored the 2 Yr Portuguese Brandy variant but the letters rubbed off. Or we didn't get that variant; it was hazy for us as well... lol

 

Got a bourbon vanilla again this year and drank it the next morning. Absolutely worth the hype.

Isn't there already dark matter coffee in regular DL?

 

It's aged in Cognac barrels that aged Dark Matter's coffee previously.

 

so the barrel aged coffee variant get's coffee's essence twice? Once in the original brew, and then again in the cognac barrels.

 

Reading all of these stories makes me so very jealous.... last year I tried to go and couldn't get a ticket, this year was planning to try again but a cousin scheduled her wedding on that day - I can't catch a break, it seems. So here's to planning for next year haha, the weather and bottle sharing reminds me of waiting in line for BCBS this year and I had a blast with that. I'll start saving some nice beers to bring and share!

Just out of curiosity, would anyone who saved their cardboard holder be willing to part with it? I make tile coasters using sixer & 4pk holders for myself and friends (and occasionally people I've traded with ), and from the pictures I've seen, these would look sweet as coasters. So if you were just gonna toss it anyway, I'd appreciate the help!

 

Correct. Reviews say as much in regards to more coffee flavor.

 

Hey man! We passed the time pretty effectively, I'd say. Was feeling pretty good myself by the time we made it to the end of the line! And glad to hear you guys had a great time. My buddy and I started talking about next year already (fingers crossed for another set of tickets).

 

FYI, those 4 packs are available at the to-go window all year round, not just DLD. They usually give them out with 2 or more bombers purchased.

 

Only had a sip of Coffee and most of a serving of Bourbon, and Coffee >> Bourbon. Never had VBDL but can't imagine it being head and shoulders better than Coffee--that would be insane.

Well in that case, never mind. Now everyone knows I'm that one lame guy who actually lives in Indiana and has never made it up to FFF. Thanks for the info!

Am I the only one who hated the Coffee Dark Lord? Bought a pour and pretty much gave it away. I thought it was way too sweet.

 

In a day of great beers, I thought it was one of the 2 or 3 of the best i had all day.

I got wasted in group C waiting for DL bottles. Met some cool people from Louisville, and southern Indiana. I only remember drinking drafts of ba blot out the sun, Half Acre black ale I forgot the name, space station middle finger, and 2015 bourbon DL. The Hunahpu keg was gone with only 1 person in front of me. Coc was great,they sounded fucking incredible. The food from the donerman truck was great as well. I didn't look for any glass ware as I thought it would be sold out. Can't wait until next year.

 

It was my first year getting tickets after 5 years of trying and thanks to the awesome BA community, I ended up
With 2 extras for my beer/metal nerd friends of 15 years. Participated in the coolest bottle share I could ask for with @uiucphoenix and surely some other guys on here. Didn't end up with variants but still had a blast. The rain kinda made it even better for me. The bands were awesome (except Pallbearer, snooooooozefest). Met up with @hopswap1 and @Zaphog for some trades and beers to share and countless other cool guys.

Only thing I'm bummed about is that I didn't even check for glasses/merch later in the day cause I was kinda definitely drunk and thought they'd be sold out. Finished off the evening pounding a crave case from White Castle on the drive back to Chicago.

Can't wait for next year.
