So I've been trying to land a few bottles of these and while I've been lucky enough to get one, they certainly are hard to come by. How many bottles of the following beers should/would it take to land a bottle:

    '12 KBS
    BB4D

I've also been throwing out an offer for two Beatification for one bottle but haven't had any luck. Perhaps everyone is Beated out?

You probably won't be able to land it, unless you give up about 12x 2012 KBS or 8-10 BB4D. The reality is it's a retired beer and people who have still kept a bottle or two (or a case) are using it as trade for harder to acquire beers. These people would prefer to acquire other hyped beers rather than go for quantity.

My guess is anyone with a bottle or two of BCBVS is looking for an equitable amount of "rarity" rather than quantity...even more so since it's a retired beer.

asking what "should" get done is foolish because there's no answer.

i wouldn't trade BCBVS for the beers listed. though i haven't had rare, i enjoyed vanilla the most out of several normal vintages of BCBS, both vintages of BCBCS, and BCBVS. add that the beer probably won't be made again.

one can try to argue the value down by mentioning that vanilla fades, but the fact is that people have been reporting BCBVS as delicious consistently since it was released.

I offered a CR straight up for a BCBVS and got rejected. Just as a FYI.

I would definitely put the over/under on something like KBS/BB4D at 12 bottles. Two beats won't do it.

I simply wouldn't want to trade mine because it's delicious. The only person drinking that is me! Or my tasting group...

For what it's worth, I traded an '11 Fou' Foune for a BCBVS straight up 1:1.

I got mine with a CBS. Great beer for Great beer. I wouldn't have done it had I not already had CBS on tap though.

In my opinion, the "ascendance" of this beer's trade value is very similar to that of King Henry's. Yes, ithe King Henry craziness has happened faster, but this beer's status has climbed like crazy. When it first came out, I had some extra'd to me. I was also able to get 5 of them for 5 BA Blackouts (back when BA Blackout was in bombers). Now I'd be lucky to get 1 BCBVS for 5 BA Blackouts. Maybe that's an exaggeration, but it's not far off. On another note, it's probably one of my all-time favorite beers.

Thanks for all the input guys. I actually was lucky enough to find a pretty reasonable trader who traded me one along with a CBH for 4 KBS, 2 BB4D, 2 Pt5th and 2 Zombie Dust. As I continue to trade, I realize more and more that it's really about finding the right trader. Sure, maybe I could definitely land a BCBVS with a lot of people if I offered 12 KBS or 8-10 BB4D, but sometimes you can find someone who appreciates exactly how good those beers are (and it's not like they are the easiest beers in the world to obtain either) and will be pretty reasonable (and possibly downright generous) in making the trade.

Both of us were very happy with the trade and I can assure you that someone will be getting some nice extras

As the other half of this trade, I can say that you are right - I've never had two of the beers I'll be getting and have been looking forward to trying them for a while, and that's definitely a factor. And I have enough of the OP's target beer that I can easily part with one, especially after my friend told me he had an excellent experience trading with the OP. Reputation in the trading community is important too.

I just received a BCBVS for a ChocoRain. I also sent 1 Black Tuesday for 1 Coffee & 1 Bramble in the same box. I think I can safely say that both parties were pretty damn excited about the trade.
