It sounded as if you assumed that you had more right to sit there than they do. So naturally, yes, I would say something. I dare you to go up to a family and ask them to move just so you can sit at the bar.

I have. Deschutes isn't terrible. Hinterland is the worst I have encountered. No matter what method I use to remove their wax, I have to grab a broom after.

I recently ordered a $15 Founders flight that was supposed to include KBS, Blushing Monk, Backwoods Bastard, and Curmudgeon. They ran out of KBS, and decided to keep the flight "all Founders" by substituting All Day IPA.

Clear or green bottles. I have yet to have a beer in a clear bottle that hasn't been skunky.

Frozen glasses. I ask for room temperature glasses, but it really ought to be the other way around. Frozen glasses on request. Frozen glasses, or drinking from an ice cold bottle, are for people who don't like the taste of whatever they are drinking.

I'm not a fan of Rogue either. Don't care for the Dead Guy. Much better beers to be had in Oregon.

Obviously storage conditions have a big part in the skunkiness and for the most part, the beer I've had has likely been exposed to more than enough light.

I've always wanted to try Cantillion but it's not distributed to my area. Neither is 3F (if you mean Three Floyds) for that matter.

3F is Another Belgian brewer shot for drie fonteinen, three floyds is usually shortened to FFF. You can get the Cantillion and 3F online.

Luckily no one has to dare any one to do anything as long as @HOMEPL8 doesn't visit MN, as VABC laws prohibit anyone under 21 from be seated at an actual bar. Table good. Bellied up, bad.

Bottle stores with and staff that know bupkis about craft beer and whether they have any of the good stuff in the back. The guy that does isn't working today.

Yes, huge. Huge as in "larger than the salary of the head brewer" in many cases. Contrary to popular belief, small breweries usually don't have much money to work with.

As I explained, at length, the issue isn't so much just buying the equipment needed to date bottles, it is the fact that the money is better spent elsewhere (on things that actually improve the beer and the QA). It is a matter of priorities. Yes, nearly any brewery can buy equipment to date their bottles... but that means less money available to buy things that small breweries need to a greater degree, such as DO testing equipment (also a huge expense) which is necessary if you even want to guess at what your shelf life can be. Your example only proves my point.

The fact that EU breweries have to date their bottles just means they have less money available for things like DO meters, lab equipment, high-quality (and low-DO) packaging equipment etc... And that is exactly the problem I refer to.

Again... you prove my point with your example. Thanks. A small co-op brewery that is forced to label their bottles but doesn't have in-tank and in-bottle DO testers, nor a QA lab? Yeah, that doesn't make a lot of sense.

It takes a lot more than "a dude putting a sticker on a bottle" to date bottles on a high-speed bottling line. For a nano brewery with a very low output and a lot of spare time on their hands, sure, it is that easy. That business model doesn't work, however, if the brewery wants to grow. Any brewery small enough (in terms of throughput not brewhouse size) to hand-label their bottles with a date sticker probably doesn't really need one. The tiny amount of beer they bottle isn't distributed much, if at all, outside of their tasting room. If they don't sell that tiny amount of beer within a normal shelf life, then that brewery isn't going to survive anyways.

I'll go with overpriced (not-super-limited-release) beers at bars. I was in NH recently and Clown Shoes Chocolate Sombrero was $11 for a 12oz pour. You can get a 4pk for less than that.
