What did people think about Dark Matter's offerings? I'm not a big coffee guy, but thought both the coffee (I had the iced version) and the chocolate were both delicious. Which further goes to prove that everything should be barrel-aged! (okay, not everything, but clearly a lot of things)

Yeah, wish I had seen that while I was there, I'd have been all over it! Although Dark Matter's stuff was free, so it still wins.

I got a coffee and the name and numbers all completely rubbed off in my wet backpack.

Different strokes I guess, I thought it was terrible. Possibly the sweetest mess of a beer I've ever tasted.

It was very sweet, I was actually surprised with how sweet it was because it was just as sweet as vanilla bean. I thought it was very good, but I would not want to drink more than 2-3oz.

But I feel the same way about almost all Dark Lord variants. Delicious, but you only need a small pour. I could never solo a bottle of VBDL no matter how much I like it.

Heads up Chicagoans...if you are still looking for DLD goblets, steins, or baby snifters, you might want to stop by the Dark Matter coffee shop on Western and Grand.

Wish I could, but working 13 hour days doesn't allow time for the trip into the city.

Don't forget cases of bombers of stale coffee. Plenty left this afternoon.

Dark Matter said on their Facebook page that they may disseminate information regarding leftovers through the mailing list, so I'd advise joining that. Obviously since I'm not affiliated with them, I can't guarantee that you'll get your wish, but it's worth a shot if no one contacted you yet.

Thanks! I'm on their list already so that would be ideal, just haven't heard anything yet. Thanks for the heads up.

Our tasting group was fortunate enough to grab a BVDL, Coffee, and a Muerte.

People who've had the variants before, is it best to drink them now so the booze cuts the sweetness, or age them out a bit?

Last year I had a Portuguese Brandy that I drank with about 6 months on it, as I wanted some booze left in it.

Drink 'em now, or lay 'em down?

Last year had a 12 and a 14 BVDL. Props to the 12. Coffee may fall of quicker than vanilla. Muerte I have no experience with

In my experience, either is fine. I think the sweetness overpowers the booze in all DL regardless of age, but that's just my palate.

I had a 12 muerte that we drank with about a year and a half of age one it, didn't have much booze on it but it was extremely spicy.

Reminds me I should crack mine at some point. Or trade it to someone gullible interested.
