Thanks for this post. I got a 32oz fill of Hop Showers last Saturday (they wouldn't do a 64) and have gotten Green Diamonds and Oilslicks and Smokescreens in the past. Solid store/bar.
It's funny...I live probably an equal distance from both the brewery and Hoptron but due to traffic, I can do Hoptron in about half the time. I'd really love to go to OH but with a family and all the commitments and house shit to do its so fucking hard to. So close, but so far. Sucks.

They only fill threaded glass growlers. No restrictions, just don't bring a shit ton because they will let you know that they hate you for doing so.
OH closes at 6pm on Sunday so you'll might only have limited time to check it out

Haha it's not really true. I could only see it being an issue if there was a line for growlers and someone brings in 4+ to fill. Growler fills in general take forever.

No glass swing tops? This whole growler thing is getting ridiculous.

    I only fill threaded glass.
I only fill brown threaded glass.
I only fill my own brown threaded glass.
I only fill my own brown threaded glass and you better have your own top.
I only fill brown swing tops.
I only fill my own brown swing tops.
I only fill my own brown swing tops in a random size.
I sell my own stainless steel but I only fill clear recycled 12oz bottles and you better bring your own uncrimped cap and crimper.

It isn't that ridiculous. Their taps don't work well with the small openings of a swing top.

I believe they use counter pressure bottle fillers that only works on the threaded growlers.

They'll give you a fancy cap! But also note that some 32 oz threaded growlers have smaller openings - you need something with the same size opening as your typical 64.

Upside is that I've found my OH growlers to drink great even after a week or so.

This is very good to know. Almost all the growlers I have are the smaller variety.

    Um...It's a counter pressure system.

But there are plenty of bottle shops in NYC that sell growlers of OH that don't use a CP system, so if it's that big of a deal, go to one of them. Just be prepared to pay more.

At least they don't abide by the completely ridiculous "no growlers with a different logo on them" rule that some places do...

Yeah, that isn't a brewery being picky, that's a law in at least a couple states, including MA.

Really? I run into it a lot, Bierkraft and Tired Hands (PA) come to mind in recent memory.

This batch of Nelson tastes a bit different than last one, I see what people are saying, a little less vibrant than last one, but still awesome. This go around and last go around of Green Diamonds I detect a "peanuty" taste in the finish, I really dig it.

Calling @dar482 who is awesome at detecting tastes in his Youtube reviews, what is that "peanuty" finish I detect?

Bierkraft? They'll fill any growler you give them, notwithstanding shape or brand. And Tired Hands is in PA where they have particularly stringent growler laws if I'm not mistake.

Anyone hoarding any OH cans? Based off their hours, not looking promising on even being able to hit the brewery while there. Plan on possibly bringing some so cal goodness with me when I fly out Friday am
