They were doing taster pours of Navaja for HHC people the other week at the brewery.

When I lived in the Leaf a few years ago, I was always surprised no one had opened a brewery or even a solid beer bar. Then The Last Drop opened shortly after I moved -___-

Roosevelt Ale House is OKAY, The Reservoir is a hilarious dive that I can't believe is still open, still haven't been to that 5th Ave Pub next to Kona Kitchen, but it always looks decent.....any other Maple Leaf spots? I bet someone will open something good near the newly renovated Reservoir Park in the next few years.

Of the spots you've mentioned I've only been to Last Drop and Roosevelt--agree that Roosevelt is OKAY (hesitant all caps). Food's all right too. I've looked across the street at The Reservoir a few times while @ Maple Leaf Park w/ the family (for some reason I always thought it was just called The Rez, maybe that's what the sign outside says, found that interesting because it always makes me think of "Reservation" as in Indian Reservation).

Also, the Maple Leaf Grill sometimes has a decent tap list, you can at least get Lucille on occasion. The other spot that I think is technically in Maple Leaf that I have yet to check out is Cooper's Alehouse, I think I've heard decent things about it.

Otherwise, not in Maple Leaf but I go pretty regularly to Elliott Bay. Beer's nothing special but it's a big space so usually not much of a wait and family friendly. Food's pretty good.

Oh yeah Cooper's! Always forget about that place. That's definitely a good low key beer spot. Also, great for watching sports. Place keeps a nice tap list and regularly has lil' IPA fests, etc.

I drank Notorious at Cooper's for like a week straight once. That was good times.

Ravenna is getting Ol' Faithful Brewing this Summer. Nice to see another brewery in Northeast Seattle. Oh hell, nice to see another brewery somewhere other than Ballard.

Ying's is just your basic Americanized Chinese take-out, but as such it really isn't half bad. Plus the place is frozen in time. They have a selection of magazines you can read while waiting for your order, and some of them have been there for more than 20 years.

After passing by hundreds of times, a couple years ago I finally went in. It was more of a dive than I expected but the bartender seemed nice enough. Not much of a craft beer selection, though, and it really wasn't my scene. Think I had a pint of Manny's and moved along.

I lived in Roosevelt for 15 years and I don't disagree that NE Seattle could use another brewery or two. But last year I moved to West Seattle, and we really need more breweries here. There's Elliott Bay and...uh...nothing else. Well, other than West Seattle Brewing, which I never got around to trying; they closed abruptly a few weeks ago (although rumor has it they're just remodeling and expanding).

i went and tried everything they had on tap. all were pretty solid. nothing to get too excited about though. worth a try but i dont think i will be working it into my normal rotation of holy mountain, fremont, reuben's & stoup for brewery stops.

That was pretty much my reaction. The fact that I would have to walk past both Reuben's and Stoup to get there pretty much means it's unlikely I will return very often. The beers were good enough that I don't want to write them off, but I feel like I should give them a few months to try to find their groove before giving them another shot.

Isn't that the same day as the Flock Party out at Black Raven? Was thinking about maybe heading down for that.
