Expedition, Ten Fidy, Founders Breakfast, Speedway, Plead the 5th….. these are my tops….of these I'd have to say FBS but speedway is so close

I forgot to put it and I don't think I saw it but Sierra Nevada Narwhal is also fantastic.

If we're talking a stout that I can grab off a store shelf any time I want, then Siberian Night, both barrel-aged and regular. (Which is a good thing for me, since I'd personally put the BA version up against any other BA stout.) Dark Apparition is up there as well, and that one seems to be in certain stores every time I visit.

If we're talking a bit more widely available, then I can't pick just one. Old Rasputin, Yeti and variants, Founder's Breakfast, Ten FIDY...they're all good.

Listing a couple for the regional disparity:

    -Deschutes Obsidian
    -Rogue Chocolate
    -Left Hand Milk Stout
    -North Coast Old Rasputin
    -Stone IRS
    -Rogue Shakespeare Oatmeal Stout
-Surly Darkness (not sure if readily available, but it's delicious)

If only GLBC Blackout and Founder's Imperial were year round...

More readily available...probably go with Ten Fidy.

    My experience with American stouts is limited but i am glad to see some of my favorites here;

Sam Smith´s Imperial Stout (the Oatmeal is great too).
Anderson Valley Barney Flats Oatmeal Stout.

Year round would be Dragon's Milk and Ten Fidy. I can actually get BORIS and DORIS everyday down the street for some reason, but it isn't ready available for most so I guess it depends on where you live.

The only reason why I write it off is because it tastes more like a black ale. It's delicious, but if you are looking for a stout, this isn't it.

There are a lot of great stouts under 10%, even around 5%. British and Irish styles stouts are usually 5% or under, as well as American stouts based off of them. If I drank 10%+ as much as I drink others, I would be a fat, diabetic mess with a liver in big trouble.

TEN FIDY - You've got to be kidding me. This stuff is the nectar of the gods and you can pick it up pretty much anywhere.
FBS - Seasonal, yes. But readily available in the entire Founder's distro footprint.
Yeti & Oatmeal Yeti - Self explanatory.
Big Bad Baptist - Not sure about where they distribute but its literally on the shelves every time I walk into my shop.

Ten Fidy and the Yetis, specifically the Chocolate Oak version but whichever is available would do. Ten Fidy is really, really delicious thought pricey.

For bigger stouts I'm a Yeti and Stone RIS fan. For slightly more drinkable ones - Out of Bounds and Kalamazoo.

One that doesn't get mentioned much in Steelhead Extra Stout, Breakfast stout, Founders Imperial stout, Old Rasputin. Central Waters makes a pretty solid stout in Satin Solstice as well.
