As with any thread involving infection issues, everyone posting seems to have a bad bottle. Could we get some people to chime in about good bottles? I'd like to know if this 20% number is accurate. This is a huge want for me and if the number is even remotely optimistic, I'd complete the trade I have lined up for it.

Almost everyone I know that has opened a bottle (myself included) has had an infected one. I'd say confidence is low that only some of them are infected. I had one last night that I thought was fine, but I may have been too inebriated to notice.

Hey, this is a great f-in beer. I say trade for it. You don't have to lose anything* but shipping. If it's a bad bottle, you get a refund.

    * Well perhaps your rare-ish beer but some sort of gamble is unfortunately part of the game for BA beers.

If 20% taste infected now, it's a good bet that in 6 months they'll all taste infected.

Worst case is that I bought a bottle at the Bistro Bar and paid $25 for it to be no good, but still charged the full amount after talking with the bartender about it having issues, to be told "mine tasted delicious, especially after it warmed up".

No refund and left 1/2 the bottle on the bar. Damn it!

You bet. Had it on tap at the Winter Storm earlier this year & drank deliciously.

20% is just the number I was told earlier this afternoon, no idea how accurate that is. It's possible that owners of uninflected bottles haven't realized there's an infection issue & as a result didn't speak up? Could even be that many haven't tried theirs yet or the number is preliminary. My gf & I will probably try our bottles in the next 2 weeks & report back then. If anyone happens to be near SGV when we do try these you're more than welcome to share the bottle with us assuming it's tasty

Agreed, if you have a bottle, pop it. Maybe you'll get lucky & hey if not you get a refund

For people I personally know, it’s currently running 6 infected bottles : 1 un-infected bottle. 7 bottles is of course a completely unreasonable sample size, but nonetheless it’s not looking great…

2/2 infected. It was painful to pour 1000ml of beer down the drain...

I personally tried a few samples. So far im honestly at 50/50. I had some that tasted great, tons of bourbon no sourness, and i had some that tasted like a great bourbon IRS followed by some tart cherry. I've notified trades i had setup, because i aint a jerk.

Mille Millilitre :slight_frown: Talk about a damned if you do damned if you don't situation. Was looking forward to score a couple bottles, drink one, and put one away for a year or so. But even if I'm lucky with the fresh one...the other would be a ticking timebomb. Sounds like I'll have to just open it and see what happens.

If anyone is interested, I'm going to throw an informal Stone BA IRS Fuck-up Party at Bootlegger's on Friday between 5-7. I'll be opening my probably infected bottle as well as a Cantillon to remind folks what sour beer should taste like.

As long as your Cantillon hasn't developed a bourbon stout infection.

Which is completely reasonable. LA beer geeks are complete wankertards.

Would love to join in on this & bring my bottle. Currently on amoxicillin til Friday, care to wait til Sunday? We can call it a "missed woodshop" party? Maybe they'll have Memorial IPA on draft to steer tastebuds in the happy direction again

"Return your bottles to Stone" is not appropriate. A recall is appropriate.

I think this comes up once or twice a year. When a brewery has a bad batch or a similar problem, there is one solution: a recall. That lets people return bottles to the store from which they bought it, and gets "bad" bottles out of circulation. Any other solution is a half measure.
