In the past it's always the last Sat in April. 2005 was a Friday. 2011 was the 30th, hated that because we had to be in Madison for GTOM tix the next day.

Dammit. I just placed an order earlier this week for the purple snifters.

Reordered tonight for the coffee, the stein, and the goblet and sent an email asking them to (hopefully) package it all together to save on shipping.

Thanks for the heads up @StoutTrout

First dld for my wife and I, and we loved it. Arrived at 645 and parked right near the front which cost 40 bucks. Was miffed at the price but there was someone there all day and only a few spots. It was close so we could drop off bottles and grab more to share. We got in line at 7 and damn was there a ton of beer shares. We found a great group and shared all kinds of awesome beer. We were amazed at how many generous people go to this event and that goes for all day and even the shares the day before. We left the event around 945 pm and realized we left the south gate and tried to go back in but they wouldn't let us. That made me mad and had to walk the long way to our car. All day we had tons of beer, met grate people, and surprisingly lasted from 7am to 945pm.

I'll tell anyone to get a water pack or camel back because water is the key. We filled up three times and didn't get drunk. We also ate a lot of wings and other stuff. Those wings were awesome, loved them. Was able to try all the Dark lord variants except coffee and the cherry. Struck out on the golden tickets but maybe next year we'll get one. Not only was the event great so was the shares at the hotels, as well as the road trip. Can't wait till next year.

I cannot believe Dark Matter is selling DLD exclusive merch on their site for EVERYONE to buy. Such bullshit. Is there no sanctity in brewery only releases anymore? Christ on a bike.

That was surprising to me as well, especially the purple glasses. Oh well I suppose. They make too little or too much.

I haven't checked the forum all week. Made for a good hour of reading this morning. Was in group C line about a row behind the guy doing a dark lord vertical tasting. Had 2010 '12 and 13 before we went in to get bottles. Missed the '11. We bought at '14 on the Wednesday before and had '15 on tap. What a great experience for our first time having any DL. My guest also brought a 2010 that we mostly split. Only tried biggleswade on tap and hated the first sip. Loved the second though and thought in the end it was amazazing! Also had black flame, big tiddy assassin, and pizza port eukaryst stout. Food was great. Won a coffee variant and was immediately propositioned for it outside. Decided to let it go. No need to justify this. We don't want a repeat of pages 82-85. Bought a goblet at end of the night. Just bought the purple snifters last night, bonus! Big freedia was very entertaining as well. Great time and will definitely go back.

Oh and we hung out with a couple under the tent that loved sours and when I came back from getting bottles my other friends said she was balling because someone stole their allotment. Who were you guys?? Thanks for the shares and surly smoked my friend had to open with his knife!

Anyone seen the Black Hole Necromancer being sold or traded or know what it is going for? Didn't buy any but now want a bottle to tamper to a share in June. Thanks!

It is for sale on the Dark Matter page right now, no limit. Make sure to select the pickup option if you live close and save big on shipping.

There is something to say about a certain amount of exclusivity for these events. The people at DLD the past 2 years stood in line for up to several hours of an event that cost them money to just get in the gate. All for what they thought was exclusive merchandise. Now they find out they could have better spent those hours in line and just bought the exact same merchandise (with no limit!) online whenever they want.

For those that haven't seen the steins in person...they are the best piece of glassware in the whole set. I'm going to use mine constantly. So bad ass.

    Question about Dark Lord itself.

Does it keep getting sweeter as it ages?

I just opened a 2015 bottle last night and it wasn't really sweet at all. The pour of 2011 I had at the event was sweet as hell.

I wonder what they do with the kegs of guest beers that didn't kick? rotate them for the brew pub?
