More Short's Butthurt

The only thing that bothers me is that I only found 2 bottles of it.

 

I just had my last one yesterday. Very tasty brew; but what's in a name? I'll buy this again under whatever the new name is.

 

No. Good for them. In most cases its way more than 1%. I'm sure the percentage of people that are butthurt over it is lesser than the people that are not. Its the same beer. NBD.

 

No, but I am sick of seemingly entitled people who act all butthurt over something which doesn't affect their lives in any possible way.

Not sure where I remember this from, whether it was read somewhere online or heard on the podcast, but whatever...the change was motivated mostly by the company. Somewhere along the line it was pointed out to them the the name could be offensive and they took it upon themselves to make the switch. No legal injunctions or Facebook campaigns. It's their product and can do with it what they choose. Good for them that they felt like it was worth addressing and following through. If it still tastes as good, what should we care what we have to call it?

 

Aphasia is an amazing beer. I will continue buying it even if they rename it CANCER JUICE. Life happens people, stop being so fucking sensitive!

"Delerium Tremens" is the name of a potentially fatal complication of alcohol withdrawal, always kind of wondered how they have gotten away with that name for so long...

 

I'm not overly tall, so maybe they should rename the whole damn company.

 

Yeah, I don't get all the animosity for the name change. A group of people communicated privately with Short's, who took the initiative to change the name. There was no public shaming, or calls for boycotts, or angry facebook posts. The brewery itself even referred to it as "thoughtful communications," so it doesn't sound like they were bullied into making the change. Good grief, are we really at the point of complaining about a brewery having a change of mind/heart? Can we accept the possibility that the folks at Short's might have learned a thing or two that caused them to reevaluate their position? I mean, I enjoyed the beer, but having seen my grandmother struggle with aphasia, I felt a bit queasy about the name/tagline combination.

 

F those letter writing people with speech disorders. When I next drink this beer I need to have the name Aphasia affixed to the label else it just doesn't quite taste the same.
