I don't even know where to begin with this. I was truly taken back and offended just looking for someone else's opinion since I am fairly new myself.

    1. ba member:
What's up man. Would you trade the BC rare, vanilla rye, bramble rye, backyard rye, and the cherry rye for it

      Me:
      1. I appreciate the response and interest But No I wouldn't do that Much my offer was extremely generous as it is . If you want instead of the rare you can pick four from the second list and one from the third or three from the second and two from the third or I would do
rare + sr71 2:1 let me know what you think

        BA member:
        1. No doubt your offer was extremely generous. Had I gotten one at dark lord, I wouldn't have even asked. I've inquired about buying one, to trade. What would u value your 4 beers at. Say the rare , bramble ,backyard, darkness.

I'm confused. What happened that was so bad? Sounds like you posted a list and he responded by asking for beers you listed you would trade :/

Without question this is the most unbelievable response ever from a ISO/FT. Umm, hey, what was the context? Quoted conversation seems a bit fractured here. In any event, you don't like the terms of the offer, move on. No big deal imo.

That was the entire context of the conversation I copied and pasted everything I was just blown away by the fact he had no intent on even trading was just looking to get a cash value on my beers.

I mean don't get me wrong that isn't cool but "truly offended" and blown away seems a bit much. Just IMO. Just look at it this way, now you have someone to add to your personal dnt list.

I think your offer at this point is, tbh, no more than reasonable. BVDL & the more sought after ba DL variants trade insanely high, higher than many of us are willing to go, so it can.be tough to land with merely a reasonable offer. Give it time, when it's no longer the most prized beer of the moment, & it might trade a bit more reasonably. More, it will probably always trade what many consider to be crazy high. You either want it that much or you don't.

While his request reeks of jackass, those looong, vague FT lists that you posted a couple of times, are equally aggravating. Especially given how high ba DL variants trade, you can expect insane requests when posting huge, nonspecific lists of highly desired beers. Even if he was responding to your most recent thread he'd probably seen the earlier threads, too.

I still can't even figure out what the other guy is talking about. It kind of sounds like he's thinking about buying one, and wants to see what the trade value is before he pays a lot of money for it?

Sounds like he knows BVDL trades high, and he wants to buy one to trade and get as much as he can for it.

I'm not sure either. I thought he was asking about trading one for a helluva lot of beer, which is honestly what it usually goes for. I thought too, that he's considering buying one just to trade it, though I'm not certain what his intentions are. His communication skills are so lacking as to be scary.

I read this and think the guy has the opportunity to buy one of what you're looking for (I'm assuming this is your Cherry DL trade offer) and he is looking for a way to justify it before he pulls the trigger. Benefit of the doubt is that he'd MUCH rather have your beers instead of the Cherry DL (I know I would!) and would make the trade if he felt like he wasn't way over paying for the bottles he would end up with by trading with you once he bought the DL. I don't think I would have taken offense to it to be honest, I think a lot of people just get lost in trying to "value" different beers and he's looking for your thoughts before he spends what would inevitably be a ton of money to buy the Cherry DL just to trade it over to you for what he really wants but can't buy for cash.

I'm pretty sure that what the guy is getting at is, "I'm going to spend 400on a bvdl. What is the dollar value of those 4 beers, I need to make sure I can sell them for more than I paid for the bvdl.

    Or some approximation of that.

In the gold old days before the current trading system I had someone back out of a trade after I dropped the box off at fedex.
