Doubt that ever happens as the Black Friday release you are referring to is hosted by Binnys, not GI.

At least, not at Vav's Binny's. He has been very clear about his reasons for not making that a ticketed event.

It's April 30. I'll start to seriously contemplate this topic come October. :-)

That's not how it works. The first few months are sporadic, just like the Dark Lord Day thread starts out. Then when the variants are announced in like...August or so, there's a frenzy of posting, and then a slight drop-off (still daily). Around November or so the thread reaches critical mass.

If you don't get into the thread now, you'll lose out on a prime spot.

Goose Island definitely promotes a Black Friday release. Binnys is one place that releases it

Yup, good point. Last Black Friday GI employees were there making videos for their higher ups, to show the viability of the event(I think).

They do promote it, in the same way that Budweiser girls show up to a bar. Castle Vav is their largest account. GI Clybourn does its own Black Friday event. They have no control over the Binnys event.

I can't say whether that's true or not (control), but it's a joint promotion between Binny's and GI. I'm not gonna bring Vav into this discussion since he probably doesn't wanna think about this for another 5 months, but I'm pretty sure GI has as much to do with the LP event as Binny's does, in that GI decides if they're doing an event at Binny's or not. Also, Clybourn isn't owned by the part of GI that does the Binny's event to my knowledge (it's the A-B owned portion), so just because they do their own event doesn't necessarily mean the LP event isn't a GI thing too. The Clybourn brewpub is independent.

$100 ticket to guarantee a purchase of a full allotment of 2015 BC & variants. Full proceeds go to a well deserved charity (or charities). No need to line up at the ass crack of dawn. Let's get this beer money to good use. I'll sign up.

You're right in the control aspect. I honestly have no idea if GI is involved with the Binnys release. I always assumed is was just a straight Binnys thing and GI promotes it. I'm just saying I don't see any way it will become a ticketed event in the near future. If that was the case, they would do their own event at one of the breweries (like the anniversary party in the summer). And yes, Clybourn is not owned by GI at all anymore, they just lease the name I believe.

From what he's said on here, Vav does meet with GI to work out the Black Friday release.

And, yes, there is no way that event will become ticketed any time in the near future. Any ticketed event would sell out immediately, meaning that only beer nerds could attend. So, people who woke up that morning and heard about it in the paper or on the radio (seriously, there were like, 3 NPR stories about it last year) would be fucked if they wanted some. Plus, pretty sure InBev loves the line circus. Great publicity.

Yeah, he meets with GI for sure. I'm not clear on the details, but I imagine it's GI corporate since Clybourn does their own tapping event on Black Friday.

And good point on the publicity; it keeps GI relevant and "cool," which I'm sure they love.

Wait until November when they start putting out Black Friday images on their social media and website then tell me they don't promote a Black Friday release.

Or a quick Google Images search: https://www.google.com/search?q=goo...a=X&ei=v5RHVbuaNsfooAS5i4GYCA&ved=0CAcQ_AUoAg

I never said GI doesn't promote it. I actually said the opposite. But all of those ads are for Black Friday in general. That's the release day all over the country, not just at Binnys.
