For me; Grey Monday>Mocha Wedneday>Chocolate Rain>Black Turesday I had them all at the same time at a share a while back and that's how I rated them. They were all wildly sweet but I didn't find it to be as off putting in the Mocha Wednesday and Grey Monday.

Grey Monday is the best of the specials for me. Then CR, MW ... not had the Rum BT yet but I do have a couple ready for some bottle share in the future.

I look at Black Tuesday on it's own and it's great but I do not think of any of the series as better -- just different variations.

same for me. MW had a strange peppery vegetal thing going on, least fave. Love GM

 

1. Grey Monday - Delicious
2. Chocolate Rain - Good beer for once a year (very sweet)
3. Mocha Wednesday - Ok, a bit too bombastic.
4. Black Tuesday - Horrible beer.

i've only had Chocolate Rain and it was glorious

 

With the understanding that the only one of these I've had outside of "late in the night of a long bottleshare" is Chocolate Rain, I'll say:

GM > CR > Rum BT > BT > MW

But BT and MW were the latest into a night so my palette was not up to par, I'd want a better shot at each before making any real assessment.

 

I'm clearly in the minority here. My preference is Black Tuesday > Chocolate Rain > Mocha Wednesday

I just find the adjunct versions to be a bit too heavy on the adjuncts, especially Mocha Wednesday.
Having said that, all three are excellent beers, that I continue to buy multiple bottles of, even with the high price point.

The jury is still out on Grey Monday for me. Only tried it once at a festival. I thought it was excellent, but can't fully form my opinion until I've had a full pour on a clean palate.

Looking forward to picking up my 2013 and 2015 bottles this weekend.

 

I've only had Black Tuesday...I'd be happy to receive Type1 and Type 2 Diabetes with that Monster.

 

Chocolate rain crushes the other 3 but Melange #3 is the best Bruery beer there is.

 

Still waiting on my shipments of Chocolate Rain and Grey Monday. But I can definitely say that I thought '15 Mocha Wednesday was a superior beer to '14 Black Tuesday, and was probably my favorite stout of all time.

That said, getting to try Chocolate Rain was one of my primary motivations for joining the Reserve Society this year so I kind of hope it turns out to be my favorite. To prove myself right.

 

So type 3 diabetes? They could just make gift sets that include grey Monday, black Tuesday, mocha Wednesday, and a new 750 of bourbon barrel aged insulin called diabetes Thursday.

Reasoning is simple: most balanced to least balanced. Mocha had that nice coffee bitterness to cut the insane base sweetness; cacao nibs sort of did that to a lesser degree in CR; BT is BT and is the baseline; GM instead of cutting the sweetness added to it creating an even more imbalanced and overly sweet monstrosity.

Disclaimer: I think all are delicious in their own way, despite how I talk about GM. They all make for excellent desserts.
