Jerry T had the most, er, impassioned negative review for Tired Hands on Yelp. Did not help that my phone completely mangled my post.

If you look on Yelp, the woman who complained updated her post in response. She thought it was great. I realize it's not in the best taste to name beers after bad reviews, but sometimes it helps to have a sense of humor about these things

I know I have not heard the food is that good that the chef can come off like God's gift to the Philly restaurant scene. I am usually a passive kind of person, but tell me I can not have a condiment and the food will be sent back. I would also hope the chef comes out to speak to me afterward as arrogance is the easiest way to get me riled up.

How has no one brought up the Taco Bell 12-pack box for $11.99?

I haven't been to the new place yet but I'm not seeing how their prices are THAT outrageous. 26$ for a 2 person meal isn't bad, I havent seen the portions or tasted to know if its worth it but comparing it to Popeyes or KFC is a little silly. Tired Hands uses a lot of local ingredients so im guessing the chicken they are using is much more expensive than huge chains would be using. They also treat their employees well and that is not inexpensive, coupled with the expense of opening a new place where its located can't be cheap either. If you want a bucket of mass produced chicken instead of paying 26$ for a local meal for two then do that, but they are 2 completely different things. Just get a growler and go through a drive thru.

Im surprised no one has brought up the real travesty here which is Hop Hands and Saisons hands are now 6$ a pint. Weren't they $5.50 before? That's not to be excused!

Price was raised in the last three weeks at the old spot as well.

Perhaps the reason for the price increase is that Tired Hands just spent a lot of money opening a secondary facility and there is a need to recoup some of that money?

    Cheers!

Tom, I am not 100% sure why you replied with that link.

Was it to ‘remind’ me of the Tired Hands Believer Club? I am well aware that Tired Hands got some investment money up front from this program.

Do you know whether all of the costs associated with opening this second location was fully funded by the Believers Club? There are also some ‘payback’ aspects to the Believers Club as I understand it (e.g., gift card) so from an accounting perspective this would be considered a debt obligation?

Would you happen to know whether Tired Hands had to take out a loan (e.g., a bank loan) to finance this debt obligation? If so, that is definitely a debt obligation with payments due.

    Cheers!

    Jack

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know how many spots were available in each tier of the Believer's Club?

The whole .50 cent increase part was me making light of the people complaining about the overpriced tacos/chicken. I wasn't being serious, its 50 cents and those beers are well worth the money.

I got a 2 liter fill of Saison Hands today and it was $17.50 for 64 oz, that is out of control, I swear it was $12-14 last time I went a few months ago. Guess I won't be getting growlers there anymore.

It was 15$. I think their growler prices if anything are a bit out of control but until people stop getting them they aren't going to change

Everything there is a bit out of control but when you are the only game in town(5th largest city in the country). You can print money and people lap it up.

I did it mostly because I'm a wise ass. I highly doubt the second location was fully funded by the believers club, that's some nice equipment there, and I believe they own the building, but don't quote me.
No idea about their financial doings or obligations, I have no stake in the company, and I'm only an occasional patron, usually when there is a show across the street at the music hall.

Just because they are using local ingredients doesn't mean it's gonna taste better. There is very little value in a small $26 "meal" with 5 pieces of chicken, 2 (albeit very delicious) biscuits, and a tiny side of coleslaw which was bland as hell. Realistically, one neck-beard should be able to finish four out of five pieces with ease. And it isn't even a fair comparison because to be frank, Popeyes chicken taste better.

All the complaints about growler prices and 50 cent pint increases is kinda mind blowing considering this is craft beer we're talking about and I would imagine a good portion of people don't balk at dropping 25 bucks for a bomber.
