Jackie O's (2018)

Sucks I have school this weekend. What I wouldn't give to share a pint with Mike and Josh this weekend!! Given they both made it and both had beers of course!

 

My favorite Jackie O's hoarding stories all involve one guy. He often shows up with mules, somehow always has a January/February calendar page even though he was nowhere to be seen in line, then even has the balls to hang out a few people back in the purchase line offering people cash if they're not getting their "full allocation". Because of him, I've seen quite a few people miss out on lower-count bottles while he heads home with multiple allotments. Hope he doesn't show this weekend...may have to call him out if he's up to his usual shenanigans...it's just against the spirit of the entire release IMO.

 

Hahaha when I started reading this I was wondering who you were talking about...and then I immediately began to wonder how it was even possible for me to not realize who it was right away (if that makes any sense at all). That's your boy!

One time I had a sheet with a list of beers I was getting for friends at the release (back when I limited my spending at the releases...what is that?) and he was breathing down my neck looking at my list asking me what I was not going to get.

 

Wow, what a loser.

 

I won't be able to make this bottle release, but I really want to go to one of these. They sound like a great time. When would the next one be? (Ballpark) For those that are going, have a blast!

 

Well I'll be there by myself Friday. Long time Jackie O's fan, first time at a bottle release. I'll be coming from Cincinnati on Friday after work and getting there around 9pm. Hoping I get a calendar ticket!

I don't have a hotel room so I'll likely be sleeping in my car (haha) wherever I can park, it's not a big deal as my car has fairly comfortable seats. If anyone is going there by themselves too and wants to hang out/drink there on Friday or Saturday morning let me know, or if anyone at all really wants to hang out at JO's...I don't want to be the guy by themselves drinking at a bar! lol

If I'm getting there at 9pm, any tips from veterans on where I should park to allow my car to stay overnight? I think I read about a parking garage somewhere close. Also, do I get a calendar page from the brewpub or the brewery itself? I am not sure how close these are together. Which place will have all the special releases as well?

The parking garage is maybe a 5-minute walk. Not sure if they allow you to park overnight, but it's certainly possible. Someone in here may know.

You will get a calendar page at the brewpub. The beers from the taplist posted the other night will be available at the brewpub and public house (next door to each other and you can walk back and forth between them through the back deck; you can also start a tab at one and it can be used at both spots). Enjoy!

Yeah but what about Jackie O's cheese curds and pizza.

 

I used to park by the basketball stadium(?) over the bridge and down the road from Jackie O'S back in the days of 4am calendars. Never got hassled by anyone other than the guy that tried to break into my SUV when I was sleeping in the back. Not sure who scared who more.... Also as someone not able to attend until Saturday morning feel free to call out people trying to take advantage of the system, I'll even buy you a beer

Edit: looks like its the convention center. They had some free parking around it, at least back then they did.

 

Every ~4 months or so seems to be the current bottle release schedule.

 

Miller's Chicken > Hot Chicken

So bummed to be missing this. Be sure to check the patio for any more donated kegs from BW3

They're next door to each other, so it does not really matter. It has been the brewpub in the past, but wouldn't be shocked if it has been the public house on occasion, too.

 

I'm more of a "the more, the merrier" type of guy. That would be one heavenly feast with all of them. Can't wait for some cheese curds on Friday!

Never had Miller's. Sounds like I need to. I doubt there will be any of the BW3 kegs this time. Would be awesome if so. Considering I missed out on the last round!

 

Yeah their Facebook update said pages would be at the public house that's why I was a bit confused, never been to Jackie o's before

 

They will be on the public house side this release.
