The local Old Chicago has it on draught right now. I drink it every time I go there...

Torpedo's are the one beer I almost always have in the fridge. For the price there is no match, and even if it were 30% more expensive there wouldn't be too many beers I'd rather have. SN is, imo, a top 5 brewery in the country.

That's not true. Price to retailer is agreed upon between supplier and distributor. Price to consumer is what you have no control over.

I picked up a few sixers of the Columbus IPA in Columbus on our way home to PA a few weeks ago. It's a really nice beer and I really enjoy it but IMO, Hoptimum still wins hands down against Columbus IPA and Torpedo (all personal preference, I know...no big deal)

That's a bummer, it's way cheaper here. Then again I live about 20 mins from the brewpub.

Fixed. I once told a rep from Smuttynose that they deserved the Nobel Peace Prize for Finest Kind.

MMM, Torpedo = excellent hop masterpiece whose distro and pricepoint cannot be equaled by any beer of equivalent quality

That's why built a kegerator , paid $165 + tax for 1/2 keg this is equal to 165 /12oz . So alot better deal except for equip. cost & maint . + 2heart tastes better IMO on tap
Ya most beer prices in Ohio are carved in stone

    Cheers

I'll always chime in on these SA appreciation threads. My feeling is that we tend to take them for granted simply because they are so widely available and easy to afford. I've often wondered what the reputation around here would be for, say, Hoptimum, if it was as hard to get hold of as PtY or Zomebie Dust or whatever. In fact, if I was working in marketing department at SN, I might suggest they do more super limited release beers just to see what would happen amongst the traders. But I digress...

Torpedo's a great beer. We've gotten to the point where people seem to feel like an IPA's not an IPA unless it's bitter enough to peel paint off a fender and more pungent than a pound of chronic. There's a time and a place for beers like that, for sure, but most of the time I appreciate an IPA that's more balanced and reasonably sessionable, and I'd have to say Torpedo pretty much nails it for me. Great balance between bittering and aroma hops, just enough crystal malt... mmm.

Same as the old 12 packs....although, may have been in a different position since I have a harder time finding it on the new package - as well as that damn zipper opening.

I bought quite a bit of this in the past couple of years due to being able to count on its freshness, but have not purchased it in some time since we are now getting fresh shipments of Fireston Walker UJ and Flower Power on a semi-regular basis - and I also discovered Widmer's Rotator IPA's.

I brought this point up to a few retailers, with no change. a few stores in MN have six pks of Topredo for 6.99, and right next to it is the 4 pk for 7.99! I still have never seen the 4pk priced lower then the six. Im guessing the distributor is charging the same price per ounce here, which sucks. What doesnt is its commonplace to see 12pks for 11.99

Torpedo was the first ipa I actually liked. It's easy to find, not a bad price, and always delicious.
