I didn't drain pour, but damn near. such a disappointment after absolutely loving it a few years back.

Anyone have a bad experience on tap? I thought it was pretty good and the $/oz was better than buying a bottle.

I agree. Complete bait and switch. Misrepresentation. Draft was great.

I wonder if the draft versions aren't blended with fresh Double Stout.

I'm pretty sure they were all the same.

I opened a bottle shortly after obtaining and thought it was OK. I wonder if some sort of infection set in.

Idk, after trying it. I see the drainpour hype. Really let down by this one.

The drain pour description isn't hype. This is really not worth drinking, and a sad departure from what the beer once was.

Does Green Flash do anything good, besides ruining beers?

I opened Batch 1 and Batch 2 last weekend. Batch 2 is okay but Batch 1 is still excellent. They should have quit while they were ahead.

Weird they didn't just send you a twenty and maybe a brand new car

At this point they don't make a beer that I enjoy and they are attempting to ruin Alpine as well. Talk about a quinella of funk.

Man, I honestly don't know what you guys are talking about... I've had two separate bottles and I've enjoyed both, and everyone I've shared it with has enjoyed it too (this includes brewers at some local bigger breweries).

I liked how it wasn't an IN YOUR FACE barrel aged stout, it had the flavors without being too overpowering... a nice change from the Black Tuesday wannabes I've had far too often lately.

I don't know if it's because you guys hate GF all of a sudden, but the latest Silva Stout was a great barrel aged stout. This is coming from someone who hasn't had the previous releases, so I can't speak about which one is better, etc. But I thought this beer was far from a drain pour.

I'll take all the extras if you don't want them.

Man, I'm really thinking infection in some of the bottles. The way you're describing it is not what I tasted (solid taste, but not in your face like BT). The one I had at a share a few weeks ago tasted like chocolate yogurt. Everyone just sort of went "Huh." I have another one in the fridge so maybe I can compare.

It must be some bottle variation. Because I smelled it and thought "WTF?". Walked over to my wife and handed her the glass and told her to try it and she smelled it and said "What's wrong with it?"

It was obviously foul. The taste was way WAY more overwhelming than any Black Tuesday/variant I've had.

    It's a combination of things.
    1. It used to be really good. Even B2 (which was inferior to B1 by quite a bit) was still pretty damn good.
    2. It used to be a really good deal. It was the lone BA stout in a 12oz bottle in SoCal. It was super cheap at ~$20 for a 4 pack. That's 48oz of beer for practically nothing.

Now it's a 750 of shit for twice the price. They made such a big deal of their new "Cellar 3" or whatever, but if Silva is any indication, all of those beers are going to be turds. And that sucks, because GF is certainly capable of making great beer.

B1 was a $16 4-pack. I know cause I bought three of them. Back in the good ol' Vista days. That beer hung around at the tasting room for awhile. A case or two might have made it to bottle shops. Then they had a re-release and it was $20, which they kept for B2. Still a good price. They also screwed us over on the B2 release.

I know It has already been stated...but I got a butter bomb too. Sad to crack It open and get whiffs of movie popcorn...definitely a problem with some of the bottles. No desire to drop another 20.00 gamble on this...was excited to finally try it...oh well.

I had some on draft yesterday and it was definitely off. Butter/butterscotch dominated. I was excited to try it, so I was pretty bummed. Had to wash that down with some Wolf Among the Weeds, which was tasty.

I could swear I saw "1% butterscotch schnapps" on that blending information sheet they handed out...

I didn't get any infected flavors, just horrible coffee and off balanced bitterness. I would not compare this or expect it to be a big ba bomb especially with it being blended with non ba. Not world class and not worth $20 a 750ml. Gimme Highwestified all day for 1/2 that. Shit ba Dark Seas is still around, even that blows "Cellar 3" out of the water. I'm not a GF hater either. I love Palate Wrecker. Soul Style is really good as well, n regular double stout is just a solid imp stout, but this SilvaStout was gah awful.
