I wish everyone would just copy and paste their profile page over! It's not hard. I shouldn't
Have to do such research to see trade history for people who have done numerous trades! /rant

So what's the difference between the "ISO: make me an offer" and "ISO: combination of the 15 beers" when the person plays the different combinations against one another to get people to increase their offers? Seems there's no way around it. Or do I have it wrong and you are referring to the "ISO: Best Offer"? I love when someone makes me an offer that I would never thought about.

To be fair, auction style trades are against the rules.

    "Let's keep this simple:

    • Keep it clean. Respect your fellow traders and we'll keep this forum open.
    • Trades must be beer for beer; no other goods or services; like proxies/mules.
    • No selling/buying; that includes pimping your crap on eBay.
    • No auctions; "best offer."
    • No "message sent" style posts. If you sent one, they'll get it; duh!
    • No bumping.
And as always ... if you get burned, it's all on you. BeerAdvocate is not responsible for the actions of its users.

We really do appreciate your cooperation.

Thanks all, and happy beer trading!

    Cheers!"

So people are referring to the "ISO: Best Offer" threads. Gotcha

Bingo! If you don't want to make an offer, don't look. Why bother complaining about it?

I'm with you on this one. If I'm interested, I make an offer. If I'm not, I don't. As long as the OP contacts me back, I don't have a problem with it. Where I have a problem/complaint is when people make a thread, then don't respond to messages.

Because then I might offer him too much! I want him to offer me too much!

Let's keep this $-for-$, I don't feel comfortable offering more than $10 worth of beer for your Midnight Sun M. However, I'd be willing to offer $15 worth of limited-release stuff for 2005 Dark Lord, since that is fair $-for-$ and those sold for $15. Sounds fair right? Let's do it!

    NOTE TO ALL:

If you don't like a trade or don't feel comfortable making a trade (for any reason), then don't do it! If you like the trade and want to do it, then do it! What's so hard about that?

Alternatively people could be complaining about them because they perpetuate a culture of "I want to get as much as possible for what I have all the time", which bothers significant numbers of people, rather than because they can't win the bidding war.

    Just a thought.

It gets old wading through a bunch of 2011 & 2012's posting FT Better Half ISO Your best offer (don't come with the cheap stuff).
Admins have said no auctions so not sure what's so hard about abiding by that rule.

Really don't care either way but threads like this make me go all Al Czervik...

Why would I want to join this crummy snobatorium. Why this whole place sucks! The only reason I’m here is maybe I’ll buy it

The rules do say not to post auction style posts. Plus it is generally frowned upon, and most traders consider it a douchey thing to do. People will still continue to do it.

I've thrown offers out on a few auction style posts. In many cases they are expecting the moon and I just bail. In a couple cases I've actually worked out a reasonable deal.

That seems to be about par for the course. I've had both happen to me as well.
