Too bad they couldn't just go with Rainy Day Records IPA. Seems like that would be different enough while allowing Three Magnets to continue to pay tribute to the record store. And I doubt it would have confused anyone. 3Mag Rain IPA is just a terrible, terrible name.

It's like when restaurants come up with cute, creative names for their dishes that make me cringe when ordering (I usually just point to the menu instead)—except in this case the name wasn't changed by choice.

Sounds like Rainy Daze Brewing. Can't say I blame them.

I was thinking Rainy Day CDA by 13 Virtues Brewing, Portland. There are, like, 30 other "Rainy Day IPAs" out there (enter it into BA search window), so methinks this is kinda stupid.

A Pacific Northwest brewery naming itself (or one of its beers) "Rainy" anything and then getting its panties in a bunch about another beer named "Rainy" something is idiotic. It would be like a brewery in Arizona reserving the word "Desert" or a Colorado brewery claiming "Mountain." I know, lawyers and shit. But like, use some fucking common sense. This kind of BS is going to end up having a chilling effect on new beers coming out, and none of us want that.

Really hoped we wouldn't see too much of this kind of assclownery around here.

Perhaps a bit of hyperbole there.

I don't believe Astoria beer is available in the same marketplace. That's the big issue and especially that the 2 breweries are only a little over an hour drive from each other. Naming a beer similar to a nearby brewery is just asking for trouble.

Yeah. you're right. Wet Dog does not distribute to my knowledge. Cool place though. I think this pretty much sums it up.

Yeah, Wet Dog has a great location and what I remember the beers were pretty good. It's been awhile though.

I enjoyed the beers I had there, as well as a pretty solid bowl of clam chowder.
