Emphasizing this. Hoppy blonde sour is probably my all-around favorite style, and this one is excellent and relatively easy to get (nationally distributed, very little hype). If you can get them, Wicked Weed makes some great ones too.

My mistake. Haven't tried it, but I was under the impression it had a tart note to it. Possibly as the brett does it's work as it ages? Not 100% familiar with Brettanomyces work in that fashion. Do you know if it's supposed to take on a sour note over time? (now i'm interested)

No tartnes whatsoever at its current stage. I suppose it could sour some--Brett is capable of that. It was in the fruit cave, so there is potential for other bugs as well. The bigger question would probably be what the ph of the beer is. Also, the hops are probably going to restrict the beer from souring. It doesn't have the greatest environment for souring to take place. Regardless, there is a ton of wild yeast in that beer and there is still a lot of sugar for it to eat. Brett can eat sugars that sacc. cannot. That means, with time, it will turn into a highly carbonated funk bomb. I have high hopes. It's already a very interesting and very tasty beer.

If you want something on the milder side, try a fresh Dorothy from HF.

Definitely New Belgium Le Terrior and Crooked Stave Hop Savant out of the ones I have tried. Had a few others by Anchorage and Prairie for the most part.

Not to go off-topic, but can you get this anywhere other than the brewery?? I think I need to send my brother in WI in search of it.

I would caution against referring to Saison-Brett as "sour". We inoculate with brettanomyces at packaging so you're not going to see a ton of acid production. We don't employ lactobacillus at all. I would definitely say that Saison-Brett is funky, but not sour. If you approach Saison-Brett expecting a sour beer, you're going to be very disappointed.

You're the boss! Thanks for sharing the information. Funky and hoppy is definitely more accurate and more applicable for many of the recommendations made above as well. I don't think OP would be disappointed in Saison-Brett even if it didn't meet his expectation for acidity. The balance of that funk and hops is just too good! And I could not be more excited about Saison-Brett on shelves in NJ. Also my wife is officially a Sixth Glass junkie since its arrival here. Happy wife, happy life and I guess I have you to thank.....so thanks!

Please keep up the great work and the representation on this site. It's nice to have the valid commentary to keep knuckleheads like me in check!

Le Terrior is hands down the best style, that's also easily available.

Locally Pizza Boy has done a dry hopped sour, Eternal Sunshine, and it's fantastic.

Terrific beer, great recommendation. Not sure that this will actually see shelves where the OP is, but the same can be said for a lot of beers in this thread.

I've tried that one, but I don't remember it being hoppy at all. Am I just forgetting? (Entirely possible)
