Dark Lord Day (DLD) 2015

How did it taste? I wanted to try it and did not get to. I am also looking for a bottle of it, but so far have only found a few people on craigslist who want way too much for them.

 

Honestly I'm not too familiar with Aquavit, but it had the same characteristics of any BA DL variant. Very full and sweet. I remember liking it more than I thought I would lol. It was a little late in the day

 

Did anyone actually buy an aquavit DL? Honestly wondering. I've tried finding one for the last 2-3 days and not a peep.

 

I picked up a Biggleswade,but haven't cracked it open yet.I may part with it. A guy that was in group B opened his that day and he said it was better than the last time they had it.

 

So what's the deal with the Dark Blood coffee? The back of mine just describes Unicorn Blood. Anyone else have this on their package?

Was expecting the web description of Dark Blood to be printed on the package.

 

Is it just a dark roast of the Unicord Blood? Figured they still would've listed that on the package if that was the case.

 

I'm thinking that Unicorn Blood is probably the base coffee for the Dark Blood. The website description says:

"This is the whole bean version of the iced coffee bomber, Black Hole Necromancer, aged in the Dark Lord Coffee Variant Cognac barrel. A strong, barrel forward espresso blend, built to energize warriors headed for battle!"

But I can't find anything like that written on the actual Dark Blood package, just the regular Unicorn Blood description on the back.

 

Dark Blood is the same bean/roast as Unicorn Blood. But they just took those beans and aged them in the Cognac DL barrels after use. Then this year's Coffee Cognac DL was put back into those barrels.

 

Yeah, the weird thing it doesn't mention anythings bout the Congac DL barrels on the actual bag of coffee.

Once you make the coffee, there's no doubt it's been aged in a barrel. It's really good. I like it much more than the Mastodon Dark Blood (bourbon barrel aged coffee), but not quite as much as the Vanilla Rye barrel aged coffee they did a few months back.

I thoroughly enjoyed the draft pours of '15 Biggleswade and Aquavit this year. Whales in the trading game IMO due to people purchasing primarily other variants because of the bad rap of the Wade/Aquavit. I thought they were both incredible. Disclaimer to those who were freaking out about AQUAVIT: I am of Scandinavian heritage.

 

Can you recommend any aquavit that can be found in the states?
