Bell's - The Planets Series

Had jupiter, Venus and Saturn.
I like brown ales and jupiter does not disappoint
Venus is let's face it.... not good
Saturn is too strong of a bourbon flavor for me, i can barely taste the beer, not a fan

 

Well, we are nearly halfway through May... Any Uranus sightings?

 

I'm guessing this is a cop out by the beer manager.

 

It could be, but I doubt it. He usually saves me anything new or interesting because I go there quite a bit. His employees have no knowledge of craft beer at all. Besides the manager, the most knowledgeable guy is one that doesn't drink but researches on unique releases. He was pissed considering he asked all of them. "Why would you sell one 6 pack in the back? It's there for a fucking reason." Plus it was sold when he wasn't in the shop at the time. This bottle shop I trust.

I trust Hy-Vee about as much as Enron with their releases. If they had it they'd throw it into the single beer options immediately, making the customer pay twice the price if they want a full six-pack.

 

One thing's for sure, it's not Barrel Aged Third Coast Old Ale. That's kind of a shame.

Frankly, I could see it going either way, but I think it's closer to an American style Barleywine than just a hoppier English Barleywine. The issue isn't the hops, anyway. I just don't think there was a strong enough malt backbone in this beer. That's why then hops may seem more prominent than they really are.

 

A waste of good barrels.
Hard to believe this weak b.w. took time and space from Black Note. But, hey the "market" demands new beer, like every minute.

 

Saturn is going for $2.99 a single here in Asheville. No six-packs though since it seems WNC's allocation was spread pretty thin.

 

Mid-May and still waiting for some news on the next release. Wonder if Bell's will be bringing a keg to the WEOB this weekend?

Saturn is a good beer at a great price. I believe it is exactly as advertised.

 

Just grabbed 2 4 packs yesterday. I have a bunch of other BL's cellared. Only assuming this one will cellar ok like the rest ? Drank 2 yesterday and very enjoyable so I'd like to see how they do over time as well.

 

I have no desire to see Uranus

 

If you're talking about Saturn, they come in 6 packs not 4??

No worries, just was confused if some shops were making their own smaller packs to increase their profit.
