When I replied Oregon, I was thinking local, as in, ride you bike down the street and get great craft beer, type of local. Rather than a, I can get there in a half hour if there's no traffic, kind of local.

Are these events held near the docks?

Yes, beer tasting is to be done as close to sea level as possible, to ensure proper carbonation levels. A dock or pier naturally makes for a great tasting environment.

WBC actually was sorta close. GABF will be once CA falls into the ocean. Damn. I work near the piers, thinking of 1 thing, typing the other.

You my friend have forgotten about the golden pride of Colorado.... The Keystone Brand, I will take a Milwaukee's best any time over a Keystone and coors, thank god I do not ever have to drink any of them though!

Cool, I'm out by Qualcomm quite a bit.

Not by the pier too much tho, :sunglasses:

    Really?

Stouts: Parabola, BT, Stone IRS, Old Rasputin, Old/Older Viscosity, 50/50, Speedway, Silva Stout/Double Stout
Sours: Craftsman, Bruery, RR, LA, (plus I am expecting big things from Societe)
    BA: FW, Bruery, LA, Alesmith,
APAs: RR, Alpine, Pizza Ports, Lagunitas
Everyday beers: Stone, Lagunitas, Bear Republic, FW, SN, GF, BP
Belgian styles: Bruery, RR, LA, (see comment on above about Societe)

I have no problem if you think another area is better, but to suggest Cali is a one hit wonder is just crazy

Don't bother. His head is on backward and his palete needs adjusting with a hammer.

If all these beers from San Diego county are judged again structures that extend from shore into a body of water no wonder they win. I would rather drink a beer than steel and concrete.

In all seriousness, I could point out the number of head scratchers that have taken home a gold from any number of these big beer competitions. Medals are nice for the breweries, make great marketing material, but I put very little stock in the results as a consumer.

My problem was 3 months of massive trading. Really knocked CA down multiple notches. 3 months ago I would have said "CA is the best bro!"

I'm surprised Vermont isn't getting a lot more love. If you haven't had a Hill Farmstead DIPA (or a Heady Topper or Lawson's), then you're in for a treat.

Sample size. Plus HF hates ebay and traders - so less people will ever try it - hence less love.
