New to Ohio (2015)

I've had the pleasure of having a few beers from Hoof Hearted and I was blown away.

We can argue all we want about who is the best at hops in the state, but I'm just thrilled that we a seriously bad ass line-up locally here. Now, if we could just get someone who consistently pumped out solid sours (besides Jackie O's, but those are so limited and don't tell me Paw Paw is good).

 

In Rick Armon's column today, news that JAFB is expanding, opening a second brewery in West Salem (off 71 south of Medina, pretty close to Wooster). Looks like it will be a pilot brewery and beer garden, but I like the part about potential for a production facility.

Those fellas have taken real good care of me over the past year we've lived in Westpark.
They have all those bottles you mentioned.

They really take good care of you if you are in there a lot. Looking at some of the other places around there, especially in Lakewood they've gone to basically hiding beer these days even if you are a regular.

Oh and I just got back from there - They still have High Westified, LC5 and Saison Brett.

Yes, attended in 2012 and 2013. Great time. Although in past years there was both local and national brewery representation, and this year seems to be all-Ohio.

 

Used to be a staple for me several years ago but lost its thunder. Looks like they've revamped and switched to the local breweries now so I might go check it out again.

 

Quaff Bros./Listermann collaboration - S'more of What? - A bourbon barrel aged stout made with marshmallows, is being released this coming Monday.

My wife loves s'mores and is a huge fan of Pipeworks's S'more Money, S'more Problems. I may have to try to trade for this!

Brew Kettle has new bottle caps on their beers. New caps to Ohio

 

New caps could already be a month old. You should probably just drain pour.

The case I saw a few weeks ago was from 4/12 and had the new caps.

Great Lakes tapped some sort of maple bourbon barrel aged triple dog dare today. Bug fan of the reg triple dog so interested to try this.

Yeah, hopefully Ohio gets some competition one day soon. Would be nice to not be paying double for a BA stout. I think their standard stout is $6.99 per 12.75oz bottle. or buy a 6 pack of Eddy fitz for $8.99. BA Siberian Night $24 a four pack..... BA DA would be about $48. You guys must be making a lot more money than I do!
