I'll be in Pittsburgh this weekend for a graduation at Carnegie Mellon. I won't have time to get to any local breweries or even pubs for that matter, but wanted to know what the best store in the area would be to pick up some bottles I may not be able to find in my area (Michigan). Thanks in advance.

According to seek a brew.com, the breweries in Pittsburgh that aren't in Michigan are: elysian, 21st amendment, ballast point, fat heads, duclaw, hopping frog, Port/Lost Abbey, terrapin, and troegs.
There are a lot of others listed, like Perennial/Allagash/Firestone Walker/Russian River. But those are all in Philadelphia, not Pittsburgh.
As far as bottle shop. In the city, your best bet would probably be the Giant Eagle in Shady Side.

Dannyfayy hit the nail on the head. Giant Eagle in Shadyside is literally minutes away from where you'll be and has one of the best selections in the city.

Voodoo's brewpub is a pretty short drive too. Definitely less than 15 minutes away from Carnegie Mellon's campus.

I also say Giant Eagle Shadyside. It's less than 2 miles from CMU, as well.

    I fourth GE in Shadyside.

I would pass on most of the Duclaw beers personally, btw.

Is it too late to also agree that you could go to Giant Eagle in Shadyside?

I'd like to disagree and suggest the Shadyside Giant Eagle.

Actually, maybe he should go to the Market District in Shadyside.

Not sure if anyone has suggested this yet but GE Shadyside has a good selection.

The only other place I would suggest--but, it's a half hour drive each way, would be House of 1000 Beers. They dabble in grey market beers that you might not otherwise see in PA (outside of Philly area), but price and freshness may be an issue, in addition to the time factor.

You could also hit Caliente. They have some interesting bottles available that are usually only seen on the other side of the state.

OP ... Come see me at Shadyside and I'll try to get you some cool beer to take home. Also check out Caliente because it is near and gets some cool beers that we don't.
