I bought (wasted my money on) one of these today. I was hesitant to buy it after trying the Stout of Morning Destruction, and now I know why. A watery, uncarbonated glass of what taste's like beer brewed with a "currant" koolaid packet. Glad I had a friend around to drink the other half. Spend your $11.50 elsewhere. Staple Mills has been very dissapointing so far. End of rant.

They don't have a single review of their beers on here above 3.00.

That's almost as bad as Minhas...

That might be the harshest thing I've ever read on this site! Made the mistake of buying the "Rhinelander Thumper IPA" bomber from Minhas &, well, wow. Putrid would be kind. Saw their other bombers at $2.99 & that's about 10 times what I'd pay to try another beer from them.

IMHO, Staple Mills must be having bottling...issues. We stopped out at the tasting room not long after they opened & their beers weren't great, but they were all pretty good to very good. Even picked up a growler of Black Tie Amber & it was really good. None of their bottles I've had have approached being decent. I do hope they get their act together before their "reputation" cements itself.

Not to renew this, but picked up a bottle of this tonight (for $7.99) -- I'm done with this brewery. I agree with everyone above. My carbonation wasn't an issue, but at first I thought, hmmm, this is a complex lager. Then I rolled it around more and just thought, nope, it's just not a good beer. Oh well. Down the drain. Opening a Jolly Pumpkin now...

My neighbor had a bomber of the Pale Ale. Watery , thin, tasteless mess.Places like this will fall by the wayside soon enough. Way to many other quality breweires available locally.

I had their Frat Boy "Pilsner". Out of hundreds of beers I have tried, this one takes the award for being the worst. As an avid craft beer lover, Its really sad that I am dissing this craft brewery but this brewery is better off liquidating its equipment and other assets right now and cutting loss before they dig deeper into shameful oblivion. It wont last more than a year without going deep into debt.

I love to support local breweries, but this is one I simply cannot. From the beers I have tried, they are all seriously lacking. They won't be seen on the shelves at my store anytime soon.

You often see some overly dramatic criticism on BA, but I completely agree with this. I would have to call this beer the worst out of thousands of commercial beers I have had over the years. Almost a burning, solvent-like flavor to it. The pilsner was enough itself to keep me away from Staples, but according to a friend who is fairly non-discriminating and not one to waste when it comes to beer, the Lager of Divine Destruction was undrinkable.

I think it is worth noting that Staples Mill is not a brewery. To the best of my knowledge they are something akin to Granite City, a fermentory if you will. Where they get their wort from is beyond me, but the finished product is deeply flawed.

This. When we visited shortly after the tap room opened, the guys manning the counter said they bought their wort from someone else, but were pretty vague about it. Either way, I don't care how they do things if the product is good - which it was at the brewery, but everything I've had in a bottle has been a disaster. I agree, I won't be buying anything else from Staple Mills. Terrible stuff. Too bad.

This probably sounds like a bad comment, but with all the new MN breweries coming I'm glad I have one that I can cross off the list as not worthy.

More so than any other place I have visited, the MN public seems to take total crap beer and buy the fuck out of it. There is some horrible beer being made and purchased on a regular basis. I would list a number of them, but man people know where I work and I don't want that to be a factor in how my criticism is perceived.
