And I wanted to say that @Sixpoint has been putting on a master class in marketing and customer outreach throughout this entire thread.

I haven't had Jammer, so I don't know if it's truly a unique take or just a bad misfire, but damned if @Sixpoint hasn't tempted me to dip my toe in the water with his/her crafty explanations of what they were going for and what beer can be. Well done.

Sixpoint has made it pretty clear they care as much about their customers as they do their product and that's a good thing.

I've got a Crisp in the fridge, but keep passing on it after the Jammer experience. I'll give it a try here soon.

Bad misfire for sure...needs to be taken back to the drawing board and rethought.

Living in South Carolina, I imagine your expectations for a Gose are justifiably high.

I generally like Sixpoint, and while this beer is not going to negatively affect future purchases from them, I was pretty disappointed with this. If the gose flavors are subtle, they're truly as subtle as the letter "b" in that word.

To me, this tastes like a mixture of Amstel Light and Blue Moon. While that's not a heinous combination of flavors, it certainly doesn't warrant $11 for a sixer.

For some reason, this reminded me of some of those wheat beers brewed with flowers. Very, very little tartness. I love Sixpoint but this beer was a miss for me. I preferred Rad to be honest.

I thought it tasted like Coors. Yuck!!!

I was really looking forward to this beer and like someone said, the sour was as subtle as the letter b in the word. Truly disappointing. It doesn't have to be over the top sour. But at least enough to where you don't have to search for it. Again, really disappointing. If I wanted a pils I'd go buy a pils. :slight_frown:

Right, and keep the sea saltiness - make it balance very well and it will be a winner!

I'm trying one straight out of the can now, and it's a little better. The skunky aroma seems to be more at bay. The taste still seems to vary swallow by swallow. I still can't recommend it.

The combination of sour and salty is a winner in theory. This just wasn't ready for prime time.

I'm a huge fan of Sixpoint beers. But, this is the first time I've felt they've completely missed on a brew. Just a poor effort IMO. And it really sucks because like many here I've been looking forward to this coming out for months.

I think with kettle sours they usually boil the beer after the souring step, which kills the lacto bacteria.

I am generally a fan of sixpoint beers, but was pretty disappointed as well. Not very tart at all.

we tried doing that on some of the early batches, but its just not shelf stable enough. The beer can get excessively overcarbonated and oversoured. Therefore, all of the lacto is gone after packaging.

Do you feel it would benefit from more sourness, or do you like the current balance of flavors? OK is not good enough, must be insanely great! :-)

Which traditional Gose are you referring to? Because there are no traditional American Gose beers...

and what flavor(s) were you desiring that you did not taste?

Extreme response! But to say this beer has no ambition would be wildly inaccurate. We welcome you to try additional variations of the JAMMER and the rest of the lineup as well...there is a wide array of flavors

    what he said :-)

While we definitely appreciate the kind words, we do not consider this master marketing. It simply the right thing to do, which entails having a meaningful and ongoing dialogue with your customers. We shouldn't be lauded for this; it should be the standard!

    how did you like it?

they're not the standard, but have managed to skew people's expectations - Sixpoint turns people's expectations on their heads

Interesting commentary. So if this was $9 a six-pack it would change your perception of it? If the answer is "yes" that would automatically meant that price influences flavor.

And you would prefer more sourness in the beer?

fwiw, its about 5x as sour as a Pils. But it sounds like you wanted something about 8-10x as sour as a Pils.

what's interesting is our customers have told us "don't change a thing!" to "we want more salt" to "waaaaay too salty" to "too sour for me" to "not sour enough." If you try to please everyone, you please no one!

All that being said, we believe (internally and with customer feedback) that the next evolution will be dialed in, just as we did with Sweet Action, Crisp, Bengali, and Resin over the years.

So you're saying with amplified salt and sour flavors, its then prime time?

    @fhyden thanks for helping out!

To defend Sixpoint, I think I've had two goses (definitely had one) that were actually from Germany and neither were actually that sour at all.

    People know Westbrook ain't a traditional gose.....right?

Not sure how to just quote your response to my post, so I'll just put this here.

Yes, I would prefer more tartness in Jammer. I thought the coriander and salt overpowered any semblance of tartness this beer ever had. Whether that means dialing down the adjuncts, or amping up the tartness to balance it out, I really don't know. I'm not necessarily looking for anything mouth-puckering either. I do think that tartness is a component that at least needs to be present in a Gose though, and I had a lot of trouble finding it through the adjuncts.

This is just one man's opinion. I love the overwhelming majority of your beers, your commitment to experimentation, and the way you represent your brand on here. I look forward to the next beer you guys put out!
