Any day during the week would be awesome as I work next to the brewery!

If what I've heard is accurate then I'd like to say in advance that I approve entirely of how this release is being handled this year. And no I'm not saying more we'll all get the official word soon enough.

I have a trade lined up for a bottle, but if anyone gets 2 more I have some Heady FT that was imported from VT on 4/7, so just over a month old and has been kept cold since

Lol--nothing like a month and half old DIPA that should be consumed within 2 weeks. Let me guess, you're trying to trade 4 cans of a beer that is made all the time (~$14) for 2 cake? Also, can't believe people are dying to get this beer. It's ok, but is very thin and exceptionally spicy (i.e not very balanced). However the BA versions are definitely worth the hype (at least DB Cake)

There is right and there is wrong in this post. Sadly, I bet you think it's opposite if what the answer is.

I'll enjoy heady post 2 weeks any day. ISO: "old" heady.

LOL...I don't even know where to start with this post.

I'll just say that I didn't think regular Cake was thin at all last year, quite the opposite actually. And DB Cake is probably the most disappointing beer I've ever had based on the hype for it. Not that it wasn't good, but it literally just tasted like regular Mexican Cake.

Haha sorry guys, was a little drunk when I saw this last night and it just set me in the wrong direction. My apologies for typing like a jackass and offending. I got to try DB Cake at a share and really enjoyed it, while I had multiple bottles of regular cake and honestly didn't care for it. And with regards to Heady, that was way too "beer snobbish" of a comment on my part. My root feeling is that it's good, but there are plenty of other IPA's/Double IPA's that are better than it in the north east region (and hopefully I don't turn this thread into a Heady debate).

My headache this morning suggests I was in the sauce a bit as well. All good! Cheers!

These were the prices where? At the brewery? They are way off.

I do remember the BA release was something in the realms of 30-40 dollars. Which is why I wasn't there on my birthday weekend to get a bottle at 4AM. That would have been half my weekend fun funds.

I'm in Belgium so I've been hammered for pretty much the last three days straight. I prolly sounded like even more of a jackass. No apology necessary on your part. Cheers!

The BAs were $30. Regular $10.

It was $12 at the brewery and $1-13 in stores, in the area.

Yes, at the brewery, those were the prices for last year's bottles being sold for on-premise consumption. It was my first time at the brewery and I was very disappointed, felt it was a bit of a rip off. I understand the retail prices at release are much lower.

I can understand the sentiment of thinking that amount is high for last year's Cake. But if they sold it for retail price, it would be gone already anyway. So just pointing out, the beer is a year old. So you can either pay a lot for it or just not have it available to order at all. It's a seasonal beer, if you want it at the normal price then then go to the brewery when it's in season and have it on draft. Not trying to offend, just one man's thoughts.

I actually really enjoy Mexican cake. Especially fresh. I opened a bottle of 2015 yesterday and while it is thinner than some imperial stouts, it's got more flavor and complexity than just about all of them. I got tons of vanilla and cinnamon graham cracker. I've never had a barrel aged version but I imagine it probably is better than the regular. I would buy as many cakes as I could if it were possible. I just think its a really well done beer and the fresher the better.

I'm just still confused as to why Huntsville got it before everyone else.

Yeah pretty much all of Alabama got it on Friday. Everywhere had 1 bottle limits.
The most any place got was 5 cases.
But there seem to be more kegs this year than last year.
