So you guys begrudgingly buy the Jackie Os BA offerings at $12.
Does someone have a gun to your head at the beer store?

Either stop buying them or stop complaining.

Like it or not, this sort of pricing isn't really that unusual when it comes to big BA stouts. Even the always reasonably priced Sierra Nevada charged $25 for a 750 of BA Narwhal.

It has been released before in bombers and I think it was under $20 so pretty good deal

So much talk about the price of beer. A case of Natty costs like $16. Don't hate on something because it is out of your price range. Higher quality = increased cost. Pretty much how it works for any product or service ever sold on any level!

Stopped up at FH last night to watch the Tribe game and finally tried their two sours. From a sourness aspect they were quite underwhelming but regardless still two pretty solid light and easy drinking summer beers. If they canned them I'd probably make it my local go to on the warmer days (esp the blonde). Also tried sap squatch, didn't pick up any maple but damn was it tasty.

PS, to the post above...nobody is arguing that you shouldn't pay more for higher quality. The problem is that Jackie O's BA beers are not 2X as good as the other mentioned BA beers so why are we paying twice the cost?

The quality comparison is subjective, and the possible reasons they are more expensive, along with people's reasons for buying them, are clearly laid out in many posts

Ever try Genesse Bock Beer? Talk about bang for your buck. It's a very respectable beer at $7.99 a 12!!!

Natty? Is that really worth mentioning? (But really, a case of natty is < $16 in my town:sunglasses:)... Thank the lord for breweries like Lagunitas, keeping poor craft beer drinkers happy for a long time now. Granted, they brew on a pretty massive scale but still a better comparison. It's still amazing to see that they can put out beer for such a great price that is packed with quality ingredients. I mean, hell, they're charging $10 a sixer for some very good double IPAs.

Just because a beer is expensive doesn't mean it's high quality, and vice versa. I agree that usually higher quality = increased cost, but how far increased does the cost have to be? I've heard all the reasons for their pricing.. well you know what, the barrels don't cost all that much when you're buying them in bunches, and they surely don't take all that much real-estate like some proclaim (two of the common "high" costs of barrel aging).. and add to that, you can re-use the barrels. I understand I don't know as much about pricing as the brewers themselves, but I just think some of the prices get a little ridiculous. And I'm not even a cheap person (I'll pay about anything to try a beer once).

On a somewhat related note, does anyone know if Silva Stout made it to Ohio? It's probably out of my price range, but just curious

@Bonis If you were being serious, you may want to check the Silva stout thread on the beer release forum. I actually just cracked and posted about mine there yesterday.

It hit Columbus a couple of weeks ago and disappeared pretty quickly. I think they were $19/750.

So MadTree Kolsch was on tap at Market District in Strongsville. Anyone know if those of us north of I70 may start to see their stuff?

Also - should I go back and get some of that Kolsch? (I liked GLBC Lawn Seat and LOVE Reissdorf on hot days).

If you like the style, I'd say yes. I personally think it's a very good representation of the style. Not that this matters to your tastes, but as I understand, it's also by far their biggest seller.

Yea I was being serious. I'd heard there were some quality issues, but the reviews looked pretty good for the most part. Hadn't heard whether or not it hit the area yet. I will say I love the fact that JOs does small format bottles, 750ml is a bit much when theres no one to share with.
