I am going to be in Johnstown on Saturday and want to pick up some Fat Head's. I am going to Little's Beverage, but I talked to them today and they are out of Bone Head Red. Did I miss the boat on that or is there somewhere else there I should check? I am already going out of my way to get to Johnstown so I won't be going much further west. North maybe, but not west. Are there any decent bottle shops in Johnstown where I might be able to at least find one to try? I would also appreciate suggestions for other beer I should look for there that can't be had in/near Philly? Thanks much.

Do you know if Little's Beverage regularly stocks Head Hunter and other FH brews? Your post makes it sound like you were looking specifically Bone Head Red. I will be in Johnstown in June and was hoping to pick up something.

Yes, my understanding is that Little's gets regular distribution of FH. The guy I spoke with there was very accommodating, but seemed surprised that I was even bothering to reserve anything since they apparently always have it in stock.

I will be starting in Philly, heading out to Johnstown and then up to Altoona and State College.

Not sure if you're just looking for bottles or open to explore breweries/bars. Assume you have been to/have easy access to Tired Hands and Victory?

Your return trip would take you through Hershey, which would put you in striking distance of both Pizza Boy and Troegs. Granted the latter has wide distribution, but it's a cool space and you could grab a growler of one of their Scratch beers--think they just put up two IPAs. Pizza Boy will have 100ish beers on tap, around 30 house brews, many of which are pretty good. Their pizza is not. But they do sell growlers, crowlers and have a few house bombers on site.

Federal Taphouse in Harrisburg also boasts 100 taps and with better food; they also have a small selection of pricey bombers (many of which we don't see in SWPA, but which you may have access to near Philly).

Thanks, but on that part of the trip I won't be able to stop - out or back. I could squeeze in a bottle shop or distributor through. I can get Pizza Boys now and then, but it might be more widely available out there.

Ya, Fat Heads is very readily available everywhere in SWPA. It's a beautiful thing. Head Hunter is quite literally everywhere.

For anyone who might be interested, I went to Little's and they had a good supply of Fat Head on hand - plus quite a few other beers we generally don't see in the Philly area. I didn't expect their craft beer selection to be so good. I will definitely go there when I am in the area again, but I will leave more time to browse and look up the unfamiliar beers. Someone told me FH is going to be distributed in Philly starting this fall but I haven't been able to find anything online to confirm it. If true, next time I should have room to bring home other western PA beers.

Do I have to buy a case? Or do they sell 4 packs? Price? Thanks!

As a distributor the least they can sell is 12 packs and only if they come from the brewery pre-packaged that way. The ones I bought were full cases - not two 12 packs so I don't think you are going to get a 4 pack unless you find a bottle shop (which I wouldn't know about). Prices with tax were ~$50 for the head hunter and $40 for the bumble and daydream. I drank a head hunter last night - still tastes great.
