Who took one look at that place and didn't know the kind of 'experience' they were buying? c'mon

edit: also, as a person who works in the food/bev industry, and who intends to have a business someday, I love the threads where arguments erupt over pricing and how others apply value to their purchases (often completely different from how I myself apply it). that is nearly every thread I read anyhow, so it's good research.

The thing to keep in mind is (and I'm not saying you personally are ignoring this), "the public" and "the vocal minority who frequent BA" are not the same thing. If the chicken sells well, they'll keep it on the menu, if it does not, they'll change it up to something else; comments on here however have really no bearing on it.

That still doesn't make it "out of control"... you're still getting 64oz for significantly less than you would pay for four pints at the bar. Sorry, I really don't see the problem here.

Haven't been to the that location yet but I goto the one in Conshy all of them time. Best Mexican in the area IMO. Not sure if the one in Ardomore is but the one in Conshy is BOYB.

"Out of control" is pretty ambiguous and in the grand scheme of things perhaps not but if you are okay with the 20+ percent increase in your beer prices just wait and see what it'll be like in a couple years.

Went to the new joint this weekend and I thought it was stellar. Beers were great, space was open without a wait. I'm ignorant of all the price increases since I've only been to the cafe once before, but we had a great experience.

Checked out the new Fermenteria this past weekend. Huge space, and it was relatively empty considering the nice weather on Sunday night and that it was Memorial Day weekend. Pineal and We Are All Infinite Energy were fantastic, as usual.

Agree with the food pricing structure at the Fermenteria. A donut with glaze was $6 lol.

My buddy and I had a few pints, then headed over to the Cafe for a panini. The Brew Cafe's tap list was far, far inferior to what the Fermenteria had going on, as I'm certain that's by design. Never saw the OG spot so empty like that before, it was strange.

I realize I might be in the minority opinion here, but I think the whole tap list is a little stagnant. Ironically, I think they used to over-rotate a bit. The downside was it was unlikely you would catch a favorite(s) from previous visits, but at least it was a new batch to try. Since the new place has opened, it seems to me there is less variety from a fairly underwhelming (for TH standards) line-up. I hate to say it, but thus far to me, it feels like the new place has generally diluted their brand.

I agree!! It was actually being talked about yesterday at the anniversary line.. I much prefer the smaller batches, frequent tap list updates.. Especially since IMO their ipas drop off a bit after some time

I had my first meal at the Fermentaria on Saturday night. I had the mushroom tacos and they were really outstanding. No complaints on quality, taste, or pricing. Looking forward to eating there again.

Frankly I would rather have beers like Shambolic, Infinite Energy and Pineal on tap 100 percent of the time rather than mushroom berliners and that disgusting Cucumber St Threerer abomination. I'll all for experimentation but you need to have more than 2 beers that are consistent on at all times. At this point they can have like 20ish beers on at all times there doesnt need to be 18 experimental turds

Fair point, phish, although I personally haven't experienced as many "turds" on at one time as your post suggests. Do you think being there are more beers available now, turds will be more likely to stick around longer as folks will go through the better options more readily?

In fairness, I liked Infinite Energy, and if they had stuff like Mago Tago and Milkshake IPA on for an extended period instead, I'd be less critical. It's probably tough to balance, it's just my gut feeling tends more towards thumbs down of late

I've been to The Fermenteria a few times now for drinks but didn't want to post until I had the full experience. My wife and I recently went for dinner and had a great time. I'm very impressed with the new space. It doesn't have the charm of the Cafe but it is comparatively huge with the barrels and brewing equipment beautifully set up in plain sight. There's some really cool artwork and plenty of space with room for 250+ people, comfortably. The new growler system(seems like counter pressure filled with hoses) is a vast improvement, allowing the beers to retain the proper carbonation and mouthfeel when you get them home. In addition, the service was great (friendly and knowledgeable) and the food was delicious.

I, like many others, balked at the initial prices of the food until actually ordering some. The infamous fried chicken was a gigantic portion. I don't know what kind of post-monsterism chickens they use, but if that's only half, that must be a scary looking bird. My wife and I are big eaters and we didn't even come close to finishing it. Also, the carnitas tacos came with two per order and were absolutely stuffed with meat. They even give you extra tortillas so you could easily turn it into four nice sized tacos for around $10. The banana spring roll dessert was a small portion and probably not worth the $ but was again delicious.

As far as selection, it is true that beers stay on longer than previous batches but in the last week alone four new beers were put on. That's a pretty good rotation IMO. I live around 45 minutes away so I actually appreciate the slower rotation. It's not so easy for me to get out there so not having to rush to try new beers is a plus. The biggest positive about this is that Pineal has been on for a while and I've been able to get several growlers. That beer is insanely good and I would be content if it stayed a permanent fixture like HopHands and SaisonHands.

In summation, I absolutely love this place and wouldn't change much about it. Please go and check it out before passing judgement like I unfortunately and regrettably did. Cheers!

This above post is great and on point, especially when it comes to beers being on for awhile. I was pretty harsh about the food prices and options on my first visit, but I just ate somewhere else after my 2nd visit, and it was nice to still be able to try Shambolic after missing it when the place first opened. AND it's even nicer that with the new spot open, it doesn't seem like it's always nuts to butts at the cafe. Good times.

I'm ok with the slower turnover. Things stick around longer and it's not a mad dash and a small time window to be able to get a fill of something I really wanted.

Personally, I'm 100% OK with paying up to the exact same price for a growler fill as I pay for four pints at the bar.

Along those lines, one thing they do (many others do, too) that I don't agree with is charging more per ounce for 8oz and 4oz pours than they do for 16. The labor argument comes up but I find that to be nitpicking at best. If a pint is $6, an 8oz should be $3 and a 4oz should be $1.50.
