I was there tonight. The Steamfunk Brett IPA is fantastic.

Buy it at Costco instead. Much cheaper there.

I'm loving their stuff and my visits there. Big fan of the IPAs and the saison contraire. Obviously the stout and porter as well.. wasn't into the two really sweet bottles they released recently.

Enjoyed it myself. Seems to be a divisive beer as that Brett is rustling jimmies for those expecting a straight forward IPA me thinks...

I had the Grape ape last week, and it was pretty fantastic. I really like their style/aesthetics too. Just wish i didn't have to drive to Torrance to get it! El Segundo is right up there and bit closer to me so thats my local at the moment. I wish the FW brewery in Venice/Marina Del Rey would go ahead and open already so i can be there every day

That Bourbon OE is ridiculous! Surprised it lasted so long.

I went on Sunday afternoon/evening to have a birthday beer(s). They have 8-10 cases of BOE left. I bet it's gone by the end of the month. Bought another bottle on the way out.
And this was my first time drinking this version of Grape Ape. Delicious.

This batch of Grape Ape is excellent.

^ They need to bottle Grape Ape and Amarilla Gorilla ASAP (... or at least fill blank growlers).

Yea, I agree with the blank or covered growler. I do own the original white growler from Smog, But these place need to start filling other growlers. I just found out Noble does now. Thats good, but the damn fill $$'s are a bit too high on the special releases when they have them up for fills.

Last time I talked to them they said to wanted to bottle one them but there's a copyright issue not sure which of the two it was. Or they may change the name just to be able to bottle. I remember seeing an early label made already too.

It baffles me on why people would turn down filling blank growlers (or even the ones BevMo sells with the store name on them). It is just a way to lose money. I understand they wouldn't want me coming in with a Golden Road growler and advertising them at their place of business, but really, a blank bottle doesn't hurt anyone.

Fill prices are kinda pricy on a few of the regular beers too, not just the special releases. But they are still cheaper than buying pints, so I guess there shouldn't really be complaints.

Agreed. State laws say you can fill blanks, but a lot of breweries still resist. Like you said, it's just lost revenue for them. Most other states with similar policies to CA's are pretty open to filling whatever and wherever. Still don't understand why breweries in this state take such a hard line against something that only stands to make them more money.

I have the same reaction to breweries not offering a 32oz or 1 litter growler option.

I know I would visit Smog City more frequently if they did. As it stands, I only go down there for bottle releases or the occasional special event. So again, its lost revenue.

My bottle had very little carb as well. Was able to get maybe a quarter inch of head pouring hard, and it lasted 30 seconds to a minute.

We often here about how beers from previous years are so much better than previous years.

I think 2015 Bourbon O. E. is better than 2013 (the last time I tasted it)
