A beer that pays homage to a centuries-old tradition of combining new beer with aged “stock ales.” Freshly brewed beers of the day often were very smoky and bitter tasting, and were blended with older beer that had mellowed with age to produce more drinkable libations. This modern brew will showcase our brewers’ talents by blending a stock ale aged more than three months in oak foudres (large wooden fermentation vessels) with a fresh version of the same beer to create a perfect harmony spanning end to end on the taste spectrum.

Well we know Stone can make a good strong ale so I'll definitely be trying this. But holy crap, what a terrible name/theme. So corny.

somehow i get the feeling that "youtube playlists beer" didn't sound as exciting, albeit a bit more relative to today's generation.

edit: despite the borderline hipster name, i can't wait to try this bad boy.

Looks like it'll be a blend of 3+ months barrel-aged Arrogant Bastard with fresh Arrogant Bastard.

Sounds delicious. Now I want to get some oak aged and regular bastard, mix the two myself and see how they compare with this.

Why do you think that? It says the hops used are Apollo, UK Target and Willamette. That doesn't sound like Arrogant Bastard. Also the two beers blended are different, one brewed at at a higher gravity the other at a lower gravity hence the name.

Because of the label and the description.

We like to post opinions and/or stuff we completely just invented in our mind, as fact, on this site.

It doesn't say that on the label or in the description.

I highly doubt that, especially now that barrel aged AB is available.

The label has the Arrogant Bastard logo, and the description says they are blending aged and fresh versions of the same beer.

That's the Stone Brewing Gargoyle logo not specific to Arrogant Bastard.

This sounds awesome btw. NC Old Stock did nothing for me for years, and then boom I got IT. FW dba also has become available in VA recently and is so excellent. If there's an oxidized component to the lo fi and that stone dry hop bite to the HI, this will definitely take me to the place.

You clearly didn't watch the video. You can watch it now and say you did, but you didn't before you posted.

There's a 'straight fire' joke in all this somewhere.

Yeah I miswrote that. It's just makes one think this could be Bastard-esque because the Gargoyle appears very prominently on all the Bastard varieties.

Damn, when I hear Mitch Steele talking about beer it just gets me excited. I had little interested in the beer until I watched the video and heard Mitch talking about it. Mitch could make a pilsner sound sexy.

Added bonus I can probably pick this up for less then the msrp at Costco, hate the game not the player.
