I focus my $texas spending at 2 stores, and I got a call from both of them today. Nothing beats building relationships with store owners and not spreading your chips around (or only promising spending based on conditions or harassing via phone). And no, I don't "know someone" or "follow the truck."

Ordering overseas now has become extremely risky due to customs holding shipments, and borderline price gouging & bottle limits. I'm afraid the only answer is finding a mule in Canada at this point  or regular Belgium trading partner.

Or get a job in investment banking #stateofcraftbeer

I think that is the case with most stores today. They were inundated with callers after seeing info here on BA, or FB, Twitter or the grapevine (not liquors). I suspect most of them got tired fast of answering phones. The owner of Small Batch is one of the nicest guys I know, but I'm sure even he grew tired of the calls and questions and got a little chippy.

In regards to trading, I suggest letting others do the overseas trading, and then trading with them using Casey or something similar. This has been my preferred method and nets quite a few Loons from time to time. It costs a little more but the risk is substantially lower.

I did manage a Phone-boos today from Mile High but that will be it for me.

Finding a regular trader in Belgium (or actually going yourself) are sadly probably the two best options now. #thingshavechanged

Indeed things have stepped up recently, the two uber beer nerds I know from Denver both went to Belgium for the Tour de Gueze this year.... jelly.

Certainly the path of least resistance. Much like the previous poster had stated, it appears that over-seas shipments are really a coin-toss. Certainly glad that we have access to breweries like Casey, Crooked Stave and Avery that are putting out sought after items. Am sure a much anticipated trip to the Casey release in June will yield some items to both personally enjoy as well as provide a little trade bait.

    Thanks!

Austria, Belgium and France are our Honeymoon destinations next year...planning on spending a good chunk of a day at Cantillon.

    Equally jelly....

If you happen to be in Paris, you might want to give this shop a look: http://www.caveabulles.fr. Simon has a great selection of french and Belgian beers, and he couldn't be nicer.

Just nudged the Fiancee and have now added it to our itinerary. Place looks friggin gorgeous. Am sure the beer lover in me will be grateful for the visit....but am also certain that my liver will be cursing you shortly after.

    Awesome recommendation!

I was at Proof today grabbing a 6 pack of grapefruit sculpin, and asked the owner jokingly how many calls she got (as I know her store was posted on this thread). She said - you have no idea. One guy sat in his car outside her store from 10 am until 3 pm waiting for the truck to come. He left to get sandwich really quick, and while he was out, he called the her to see if it came. I'm sorry, this is laughable, pathetic, and depressing all at the same time. As others have said, there is so much good beer sitting on the shelves, I'll leave the cantiloons for the crazies.

I'm interested to see how they planned to handle this (if they did indeed plan) and how it went down. Was this their 1st shipment of the 'loons?

Although to be fair, Casey bottle releases have devolved into worse, with folks camping out in freezing conditions in the wee hours.

I suppose they are at least supporting a CO brewery, but that is also just downright ridiculous.

    I digress.

I think they were responsible for all the loons in CO in 2014 as well... of course, they held back about half of the allocation for the entire state (I don't know this for a fact, just guessing..) for Zwanze Day
