It's got nothing to do with timing or marketing, when they came out I was excited about another MN brewery which is why I gave them chance, after chance, after chance and all I got out of it was sub-standard beer.

I was at Punch a few weeks back and they had a limited selection so I got a FE for the first time in years. It was decent, but not enough to make me give them another chance when all the "S" breweries need my attention.

I totally agree....I really wanted to like their beers but found them average and middling..certainly not bad but not good enough to compete with such quality in this market now....now if they would have come out in the late 80's.....who knows...

    My 2 cents-

To have started a company and put you heart and soul into it, then not be a part of said company anymore for whatever reason SUCKS!!

Personally, Flat Earth started distributing in the Roch over the past 2 months and I was thrilled.

Wow, a blast from the past!!! I would also add Dave you did a great job selling against ASB back in the day. You have to come by the store and say hi. Berg sometime this summer I will ask for that Schells Brewery tour.

If my memory serves me correctly Ambleside had a Belgian Style Pale Ale and a St. Croix White Ale or something like that?

I remember Augsberger and Aspen Meadow. Not sure how I missed Ambleside.

Sadly, I was out of college when I was drinking Ambleside. I didn't care for Aspen Meadow's from Cold Spring the brewery tried so hard for us to sell it at our company. We passed because many of us felt Cold Spring didn't care about the beer geek back then.

Holy crap, those Aspen Meadow labels take me back to my MGM management days. I can STILL see huge stacks and displays of it when I close my eyes.

Had some awesome porters this last year from FE. My neighbor and I went there many times this fall to get the growlers. If he bottled them, which I know would have been tough, that would have been awesome. Some hits and misses, in my opinion, but EVERY brewery has them. Yes, some of them local. Let us know where you go and we will try. Good luck!

Hah! My palate still has flashbacks to their various Vanilla-flavored concoctions.

Me, too. I know Summit already has a porter, but I hope it is Cygnus X-12 (Cygnus x-1 in 12 oz bottles).
