I really like most of their beers, although I also think they're an acquired taste. I honestly bet most people probably wouldn't dig 'em.
I'm going to enter the lottery at Lukas and will keep my eyes peeled whenever I venture into GV. That's as far as I plan to go. If I ever get a chance to speak to the man, I'm going to ask JVR what he thinks of this sort of thing.

Hazel's in Boulder. They got their allocation about an hour ago. I got a call saying they were overrun by the neckbeard hordes shortly thereafter.

I stumbled into my first bottles of Fou Foune and LPK at a Sour Sunday event at Backcountry Pizza prior to GABF last year, and I've been hooked ever since. Someday when the kids are a bit older, I hope to visit the motherland and taste from the source.

I remember the line for Fou Foune at this past WTF was the longest beer line I had ever seen. Granted, I haven't seen that many beer lines, but it was long.

I feel kinda dirty just reading this thread, but damn if it's not entertaining. It's amusing to hear these stories of people being a-holes to store employees when we all know that one or many of the avatars on the left side belongs to these people. Let's face it, the people stalking stores or trucks only know to do so because of this forum.

Anyway, I was very fortunate to get to travel to Belgium last fall and visited Cantillon (during FF release actually). The beers are excellent, but I assure you that if you're putting this much effort into acquiring them, you're likely to be disappointed. As others have said, there's other geuze on the shelf right now that most would have a hard time distinguishing which is the Cantillon in a blind test.

I've got a couple bottles of Cantillon Kriek and FF that I brought home from that trip and if you're a real nice guy and would be interested in a local trade, I might be willing to make one or two available. Or maybe we should just pick a time to meetup and share.

    Craziness, but it's hella entertaining..

Or we can all just wait until later this summer when we get our own locally made Fou Foune in the form of Apricot Fruit Stand and Apricot Cut.

I grabbed something like seven bottles in Philly during last Thanksgiving. A bunch of bars had them available for takeaway sale. Easiest bottles of Cantillon I've ever scored. It seems to be tougher in Colorado...to the point it's not worth the time. My time anyway. I'll likely try to snag one at Lukas, but maybe I'll just crack one from my basement instead...hell, I'll even pour some out to my homies who waited outside liquor stores for seven hours.

I think it even about some really strange bragging rights. Fresh fou is probably my favorite beer I have ever had, and it saddens me to know that most likely 85% of them sold here this week will either be traded for a 'mega whale' or put in someone's 'cellar' for the next couple of years just so they can talk about and show their 'friends'.

To be honest, it took me a long time to really "get" Cantillon. Probably 2-3 years after I first bought one. I think the rise of other sour and wild beers have prepared people for that flavor profile a bit better. In 2003 Kriek, Gueuze, St. Lam, and Rose de G. were quite challenging and totally unlike 99.9% of the beers on the shelf. Especially when I was used to Lindeman's and Boon. Luckily (until fairly recently) it was easy to keep going back for more.
I'm heading over to Belgium this summer and while I'm excited for Cantillon, they're just one of many of the places I'm psyched to hit up.

I mean what about this hot Drie 'boos action. Does anyone give a shit about that?

I do. I had a chance at one bottle and went for the 'boos over FF. Really I just did it for cred, the next time someone mentions loons I can scoff and talk about how I routinely turn down FF and then stroke my neckbeard

FYI, Applejack did not get Cantillion and have sold out of Framboos.

They do have James Beer though... How can you pass up a beer with strawberries and olives? Well, for some reason I had to bite.

The Lukas drawing is for all of their Cantillon and 3F bottles. I'd be more than happy with either.
Never done a direct head-to-head, but I've always thought of them as being equally good.

Anyone with a huge hard-on to taste Cantillon just needs to go to Zwanze day. There is plenty to be had on draft and last year (as photographed) it wasn't ridiculously hard to get a bottle. There's also been a phenomenal bottle share the past 3 years. On second thought...nevermind, nothing cool goes down that day...

Also, Hops & Pie's annual sourfest has had Cantillon on tap (last two years anyway).
