Well, not quite. There's a balance to be struck. If you really don't think it means anything, then I should be able to trade two sixers of DC Brau Public Ale for Para4. An exaggeration, to be sure, but it does underscore that there is a "value" element to this game.

 

The "difficulty to obtain" hasn't become that relevant in trading, unless you're talking about a super limited quantity or a true brewery only.

What hurts the Bruery society trade value against a release like Para4 is that there are literally thousands of these Bruery bottles and that anyone in the country can get them with $$$ for the membership and a trustee. So in reality, they aren't viewed as all that difficult to obtain, just expensive. They still trade great, but I'm not surprised with the struggle on a one bottle, brewery only release.

To answer your question, Bruery Society beers that would go 1:1 - there's no good answer, because that's completely subjective. There might be someone out there who would do 1:1 with Black Tuesday and there might be someone out there who wouldn't do 1:1 with anything Bruery. If I wanted to get it done 1:1 I'd probably offer a Mocha Wednesday (that *might* get done) or one of the more exclusive ones like Blue BBLs, BT variants (Port, Madeira, Rum), an exclusive sour like Hottenroth with Mango (if it wasn't terrible), etc.

I haven't actually traded a Para bottle. I've given away 3 Para1, 3 Para2, & I'm lotterying off my second Para4 to my BIF group.

I'm a Bruery Society member, so I also have no dog in the fight.

I'd think a fair deal would be a similar beer, like an ANTEAD variant(also brewery only, limited quantity, similar $$$). But the trade winners would turn their nose up at that option, I'm sure.

I too have no dog in this fight as I drank my only bottle... it was freakin' delicious and that is all.

 

Just to also add, the person who wants this trade works for tired hands and I know he has more than one bottle.

On a side note, it appears everyone is giving Mocha Wednesday a lot more cred for some reason. You guys do realize that made it to reserve society this year and was just as available as Grey Monday right?

I'm a hoarders member and I've even offered him something like Melange 11, which is quite limited and he still didn't want to do that.

Also to point out, he approached me as he wants a "bruery guy" so it's not like I went to him and he is just trying to take me for everything I have.

I just think its odd that he would come to me and ask for the moon. I've never even had a Para so I don't know what I'm getting into.

Its basically the anniversary beer mixed with Mexican spices and chilies.

 

Tell him to pound sand. In the end, it is still just a beer. No reason to get cleaned out.

 

In my crazy head, I feel like limiting it to one per person actually lowers the trade value. At one a person, Para4 gets into the hands of probably 500+ people, while Para3 only made to around 100 people (taking into account the bottle limit and the mules). If anything, Para4 is the least rare bottle that TH has put out so far.

Except the people who have just one want to drink their one bottle. I know most people are like this, but I will not trade something I have not tasted.

PS I didnt even go to the Para 4 release, and dont even have a bottle. I had army training that day.

i was at the release but wont trade my para 4 as i plan to open it in the near future with the whole set. para 3, while fewer people got it, had extras and those got traded. 1pp will have fewer people move them because they dont have another one, also because its supposedly really freaking good.

HA, I just found out this guy has a CASE of para. I'm working out a deal that is a little more reasonable for 3 bottles and 2 growlers.
