The OC/LA release thread.

I've seen it on sale at a few places here in L.A. but have never pulled the trigger. Just too expensive, plain and simple. I did try Kentucky Ryed Chicken on tap at Select Beer Store and thought it was pretty good, but AtG's bottles are just too damn expensive. Also, the rent's too damn high!

 

Yea, when I saw it yesterday I was going to buy it. Dig the label/title and heard good reviews on it. But when I saw the price tag on it I asked the dude in the store if it was 8.99 or 18.99. It was the later and I put it back on the shelf. And it wasn't even in the cooler. Has anybody here been to that Texas Wine & Spirits store? Wow that freakin cooler is huge. And the selection of beers in there is amazing.

 

I was there yesterday, but wasn't looking for them. Well kinda not looking. I did a quick glance but I knew the $ was going to be high. They did have alot of and I mean alot of selections there. Probably the most I've seen anywhere. You can call. I called but couldn't really understand the guy on the phone. Even when I was there and asked for Left Hand he was kinda lost. The place was filled with bottles and six packs all over. I could spend a couple of hours in there. But the wife and I were hungry. so it was in and out. I will def stop in on my next venture down to Alpine.

Just called over to Total HB and BevMO. Both places have it in. $11.5 & $13 respectively. Had a bottle last night. If you like root beer you'll like yo daddy's root beer. Sweet.

 

Bruery is doing their sour sales so all the new releases are going quick. hit me up.

 

Citra Ass Down is also available at Mr. Ks next to the bruery for $19 I also didn't want to purchase a $19 Citra hop bomber but I'll either encounter it at a share or eventually give in and buy a bottle , and they also have a large evil twin selection at Mr. Ks

 

Belmont Heights Liqour and people's liqour in long beach both are carrying NYFRB $13 for 6 pack

Just picked up a sixer of NYFRB at Total Wine in HB. Eleven and half. They still have SA Mosaic DIPA for those still looking.

 

Picked up NYFRB at Total Wine Brea this morning. They said they had about 4 cases.

Same price.

Also picked up Avery Raspberry Sour from Mr. Ks. Had a chance to drink one last week and it was awesome.

Unrelated thought.. I wonder why threads haven't been made for "BayArea release" or "SD release" like this one.

 

Texas Wine and Spirits has left a real bad taste in my mouth. I was living in the area last year and was really excited about the selection and distance from my office. First time I shopped there was probably a year and a half ago. When I arrived I saw someone at the counter ask about Pliny, and the guy working behind the counter had some down by his feet. I asked the guy if he could hold me one while I shopped around and he did. I found 6 more beers that were moderately priced since the store was advertising a buy 6 bombers get 1 for 10 cents deal. When I got to the counter the guy let me know that the Pliny was excluded from the deal, and even worse, the Pliny was $16 a bottle. Clearly I passed, but decided end to still purchased other bottles since I was there. When he rang up my total I felt like it was a bit high, and noticed that he had charged me an extra $2-$4 more than the sticker price on 3 of the bottles. I had a buddy who had the same thing happen to him with the prices. I did try giving them another chance months later, but they are significantly more expensive than other shops in the general beach area. I have heard nothing but poor things about them since then, especially with their sticker price on their high-end stuff like Papy.

 

I thought the pliny price gouging on pliny was suppose to end a few years ago. It's time to call out the pliny police . Maybe we should start a new thread here on craft beer stores in SoCal area (LA/OC/SD/IE)? Put these guys on the radar map whether they show an A+ rating or an F- rating with the BA group.

 

not counting Pliny for a bomber deal is something I can understand (since it's 510ml), but jesus $16? That needs to be reported
