What the Funk!? GABF 2015?

    Anyone know if they plan to host another What the Funk during GABF week this year? With events like that one and Rare Beer, I totally missed out on the main event last year.

    Would love to have a date sooner rather than later this year. Had to move GABF tickets last year because of the late announcement.

    Same thing happened with me last year as far as having to move tickets around. Would love to see a date sooner.

    My guess is that it'll probably be on Thurs night of GABF week.

    I'd rather have Thursday than Friday. Rare Beer has been on Friday going back 7 years. Holding both the same day forces me to choose one over the other like the first year of WTF. While unlikely, I wouldn't mind Saturday. By that point they're pouring dregs at GABF and there are no other conflicting events.

    So you guys are saying the earlier sessions of GABF are better then later in the week?

    I'm sure the GABF discussion will probably feature a lot of talk related to this, but I would say yes. It DOES tie in to WTF because Thursday night is usually the best GABF night by far. That's one main reason I'm curious about the WTF schedule. WTF > GABF if they're head to head, but Thursday GABF is a good show. The Saturday early session would be next. Friday is a madhouse, but it is what you make of it. I've had plenty of fun on Friday and there's still tons of beer. Saturday night is the dog of the bunch. Most everyone has mentally checked out and places are running out of things left and right. Still, WTF beats all of them easily. I'd do WTF over going to every single session of GABF.

    It depends on what you want.
    Diversity in beers from around the country - GABF
    Beers from places you'd probably never go - GABF, maybe WtF
    Funky beers - WtF, some GABF
    Brewers Guilds' beers/pro-am - GABF
    Bunch of beer geeks - WtF

    I think I might not even go to GABF this year. I'll take off Friday and go to Rare Beer and assuming WTF is Thursday I'll go to that too and then I'd go to some tappings around town and call it a week.

    GABF is the worst thing during GABF week. :slight_smile:

    Hopeully @Powell014 doesn't embarrass me at WTF again...

    2014 GABF Thursday session had some amazing offerings. Never saw so many both barrel-aged and non-aged imperial stouts and barley wines at any of the previous years... Not sure about sours, as I only use them as a palate cleanse once and a while, but that night featured an incredible amount of special beers IMO.

    That being said, where do you guys place Rare Beer in the group of events?
    For me, its the clear winner and only one I think I need to go to.
