I do not collect whales. I slay them with friends.

I bought an Hommage at a bar in Boston. If given the chance, I will always drink very hard to acquire beers, especially if I've never had them.

I usually wait until special beer shares or I'm with certain people.

Yeah, not sure really what defines a "whale". My guess is these 3 that I've been holding onto for at least 6 months now "waiting for the right time" to drink them:
    BA Speedway Stout
    BA Speedway Stout/Vietnamese Coffee
    BA Narwhal

Since I don't have a lot of fellow, beer-drinking friends, I may need to just open and (slowly) enjoy each one myself:slight_smile:

I voted no on the premise that I live in Maryland, a state where it's EXTREMELY difficult to find beers that will trade for proper whales.

Of course, if someone happened to share a Fou' Foune or SR-71 with me, then I wouldn't exactly say no :grinning:

I'm really sorry to hear about your dog. Hope he's back on his feet soon! Tragically, I've seen many people who would have put that dog down. It sounds like you're making quite the financial sacrifice. I've got two dogs of my own and it's a little bit debilitating to think of life without them (they're both still pretty young; hopefully that's a long ways off yet). I respect the hell outta the choice you made.

I see no reason to wait until you're in a better financial position. In fact, it really sounds like you could use a beer or two about now. If you private message me some proof regarding your pup (picture, vet bill, whatever), I'll send a nice Toppling Goliath care package your way, no charge. Unfortunately, it won't have SR-71 or KBBS in it (I see you mentioned those earlier). But hopefully it's better than nothing. The only condition is that you send nothing in return. If you feel the need to pay it forward, buy your pup a nice bone to chew on while he gets better.

If you're not interested or still want to wait, no problem, of course.

P.S. Sorry to ask for proof, nothing personal at all... If I thought you were lying, I wouldn't have even offered. It's just, it's still the internet after all. While the vast majority on this site are awesome, there are bad apples everywhere.

Based on the Spectrum on-line auction this week, there's definitely people who sell and buy them!

OP, I am seeing a bit of a correlation between this thread and this sarcastic post (same day) from the Cable Car thread.

Yes, people drink whales. Some of us don't like being required to drink them on the premises, as we might already have other plans, or maybe we just prefer to save the beer for later or share it with others who didn't happen to be available for onsite consumption at the appointed time.

That doesn't mean that they got "upset that [they] couldn't take it home to brag or try and flip it"... Bragging about beer is dumb, and many of us don't even trade.

I have glued Mr. Potato head parts to them to allow them to take human form. I have also poured a small glass of rum and maybe even light a cigarette for it. Then I pray to the whale gods they don't ask for a live sacrifice.
