Is the beer for growler fills always the same as what they're pouring in the restaurant?

I'm a big fan of your comedy. Love the reference from another infamous thread.

Last time I was there this girl came in and asked for a case of Nelson. The guy politely told her that the limit was three. After she got her 9 bottles (3 of each of their IPA's) she tried to get three more bottle of Nelson on a different transaction. She said that it was "for a friend". It was pure comedy knowing what I know about Alpine. The guy was really nice though and said she couldn't.

Not this past road trip to alpine but my last one just before super bowl sunday, some guy walks in with a growler that I didn't recognized. He was wearing a Seahawks jersey. Asked for a growler fill of an ipa. Don't recall which one of the big 3. But he was told politely that they do not fill growlers other than Alpine growlers. So he asked why. A couple of minutes goes by and he ends up buying 2 growlers filled with liquid gold. I'm with the jersey guy. I wish every brewery would jump on this. But understand.

Well, we know who *wasn't* in the brewery at that moment. LOL

The first time I went was with four of my friends. I grabbed my 3/3/3 but they only got 1 of each and I said "you guys are crazy should buy it all". Guy (I always forget his name, the bigger guy) told me "just take all of theirs" and let me pay for it too. So much alpine.

At the pub now..Nelson, duet, hoppy bday all green flash. Nelson and duet are lamentable, hoppy bday is actually terrible. Pure hop draft totally out, bottles only. Sad day at alpine

was at Bine & Vine and picked up a bottle of Nelson. I asked the guy when they got it. He guaranteed it was an Alpine bottle and not a Green Flash bottle. I certainly hope so, but I feel this is such a shitty position to be in where you have to question the product you're buying. Doesn't do much for consumer confidence

All Alpine bottles are from Alpine. Green Flash is not bottling any Alpine beers, and when they do, you'll know where they're from because they'll have a different label.

Went to alpine today. Got 4 growlers (2 HB, Nelson, Duet) plus max bottles of big 3. Didn't ask if they were GF or Alpine kegs. Had a Nelson in the pub which tasted great. Hoping all growlers are Alpine. The guy did make fun of my 2 GF Alpine growlers.

The amount of misinformation and misinterpretation about what's pouring at the pub is getting to be hilarious. Per what I would call a reliable source on another forum, that Nelson is actual Alpine Nelson, although you're not the first person to say it sucks (several other people have said it's fantastic as always). The blind buy nature of draft Nelson is becoming a rather interesting experiment in what people expect out of the beer and how labels shape perceptions.

At least as of early this week, the Hoppy Bday was Alpine produced. The Nelson was Alpine produced, and a fresh batch - so it seems unlikely that it had already run out by redmagik99's post yesterday.

Not sure on the Nelson fill last week when I was there but the Hoppy Birthday is Alpine brewed. I got bottles of the Big 3 only. And that Pure Hoppiness is spot on! It just went ahead of Nelson.

So one possibility is that what they were pouring at the restaurant is different than what's at the growler station. I had a taster of nelson and hoppy bday at the growler station, and after that did not venture to try in the restaurant. I did have a duet in the pub though and would put money on it being GF. But if what I had was in fact Alpine brewed, that's potentially equally worrisome - I've had enough majestic Alpine to know that none of this stuff was up to par.

Out here in sac ... Had Nelson on draft a few weeks ago. Tasted AWFUL, maybe THE worst beer I've ever had. The place that had it on tap is a very reputable place and all their drafts always taste good so it wasn't a dirty beer line issue or anything. Kinda tasted like somebody dropped dawn into my beer.

Needless to say , I've not bought any alpine on draft since and don't plan on it unless I make my way to the brewery.

Why would you let somebody make your fantastic product less than even acceptable. Alpine is really that greedy ? They feel the need to continually profit off a product that is not good but carries a reputable name that they know people will buy regardless ?

Really makes me question wanting to support alpine at all.

If yer gonna outsource yer product , at least make sure the outsourcer is making a DECENT product . I would rather drink Busch light than the Nelson from green flash, seriously , it was AWFUL !!!!!!!!!

Similar situation happened to me when I had a duet at yard house a couple month ago. Tasted pretty old. Huge disappointment. Alpine at alpine vs alpine anywhere else are two different beers with varying degrees of quality.

same here, had a duet at Yardhouse in LA Live. Tasted like an oxidized green flash IPA. Zero brightness and just all malt and dark

It's not outsourcing, Green Flash owns Alpine. Alpine's already sold out to them, doubt they have that much say left in what GF does
